The TP can handle mp4 and h.264 natively so searching for a touchpad specific converter isn't really necessary..

Anyone know the best video converter out?

I use dvdfab8. There was a free code for it a few months back. It rips my DVDs and converts them to h.264 in 20 mins. I love it!

I've used PSPVC :: PSP Video Converter for a long time... downloaded originally for my PSP, it's stayed on my PC and I've yet to come across a simpler or more effective converter (for my needs at least). Lots of useful presets... for the TouchPad I've been just picking the default or animation preset for PS3/Xbox and dropping the resolution (if needed) to 768x432 (if 16:9).

I also appreciate that there's no ads or annoyances, even on the website.

Yes, Handbrake is probably the best of the bunch and its free!

If you are on a Mac and want a little more fine grained control, I'd recommend MPEG Streamclip editor and the X264 Encoder.
