I have a feeling that Canada is a bit different than the USA.

I am the only person out of 27 friends that doesnt use a Macbook.

People here are really into socialism and the Mac brand really fits into that ideology I think.

I didnt want to offend the guy because here saying "you dont have a friend with a macbook" basically means that you dont have any friends...

My TP gave me hell at first and I was ready to run it down I-20 behind my car.... Saying that I finally settled down and started at the beginning with the forum and it works. Noob to webOS but chilled and remembered the people here that paid alot more than I. Jumping to Ubuntu without even giving a fair swing...? Nah, I am gonna learn this puppy. Thanks Kindly

    Peace

My bet would be that those having such problems running The Doctor have a hardware problem. Getting it replaced, would be the best option.

I love how the community comes together to help a fellow member with a borked device. 3 pages in and we are still finding options.

If I helped you or you have downloaded one of my files,
then least you could do is click the "Thanks" button.

For those that have gotten stuck at 12%.
I had the same problem here.

Only remedy is to ship it back to HP for repair.

It is kinda sad, but in my experience, it's always either a driver incompatibility or a hardware issue on the computer. I've doctored my phones on a bunch of different Windows PCs more than a couple of times (way back when there was no UberKernel but you could overclock a phone with a failure-prone .sh script) and only twice or thrice have I run into problems.

I'm sorry you've run into these problems so quickly and consistently though. You have the worst luck.

    Has it worked on Ubuntu?

Actually, I find that windows users are much more likely to solve their own problems while it's Mac users who have to carry their devices to the Genius Bar every other week. But that's neither here nor there. Just responding to the faulty generalization that windows = problems and mac = no problems, ever.

Also, look at the basic mac model's specs and look at how much a PC with the same innards will cost. Yeah.

I can't even download WebOs Doctor. The website keeps telling me that my serial number is not valid.

I'm no expert, but I have noticed several things about these issues.

First, it sure seems like there are a lot of people running the doctor on their TP's. Of course, there are a lot of new users and I wonder if some of these people really have messed up their WebOS install or are just trying to use the doctor to update to 3.0.2.

Second, it seems (between a number of theads), that there is an issue when running the Dr and it reaches 12%. It has happened to a number of people and it's hard to believe that it is only a computer connection or even a TP hardware problem. Perhaps there is an issue in the Dr or something. I know Rod said that if you can get it into bootie mode (up volume when powering on), then it is probably not a hardware problem but a communication problem.

It's very hard to find a Mac anywhere unless you know hardcore hipsters or affluent people who don't mind paying double for something just because it looks a bit nicer. I don't know anybody with a Mac who's not snugly in either category or, in fact, in both.
How would you have personally insulted a guy for not having friends owning a system whose greatest benefits are 'it's cooler than windows' and 'it makes me think different, Steve Jobs said so'?

Plus, Windows works. I've doctored quite a few times and have run into problems, but it always ended up working (although I did, once, have to resort to using my Ubuntu box.)
I am far from a "mac guy" but this post oozes eww. I know several friends with a Mac, not hipsters or affluent, they just like it, much the same as I like Win 7. Personal taste and for them simplicity is good and worth the dough to them. For me not so much, but if I had the extra money I would buy one in addition to my PC just to see what the fuss is about.
