No worries, you probably followed my original FLAWED instructions.

Listen, all you did was moved the file instead of copying it - it's not a problem and easily fixed. You need to copy the file back from the backup, then run the sed command.

    So type (all one line):

    cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

    Then run the sed command.

I apologize for the screw-up on my end.

No no, that's the root directory. You need to be looking in the /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins directory

    Type:

    cd /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins

    now type

    ls

    what do you see?
  4. #64
daffy - are you using the ls command in the right folder?

    I think it's gone

    @daffy4u,

You are in '/' rather than '/usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins'. Try this:

    cd /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins

then verify working directory like this:

    pwd

then check for the flash plugin library like this:

    ls -l

if you do not have libflashplayer.so but you do have libflashplayer.so.bak then do this:

    cp libflashplayer.so.bak libflashplayer.so

Damn impatience... I'm running WebOs Doctor right now. We'll see if that at least gets flash to work again. I'll then start over. Thanks for the heads up.

ls -l to check permissions. if it says -rwxr-xr-x then it is read only (i.e., missing "w").

    chmod a+w libflashplayer.so

    chmod a+w libflashplayer.so
actually, since he's copied the file already, he probably needs to do a

    chmod a+w libflashplayer.so.bak

I think daffy4u mv'd his .so up one level to /usr/lib or possibly to /usr.

tried the chmod a+w libflashplayer.so.bak when in the BrowserPluginsDirectory; but I still got the "read-only file system" error.

Is there something basic I am missing?
  15. #75
Hey daffy, I sent you a private message. That should fix your problem, just use webos quick install to send that file to /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins

It's also already ready to go, so no need to do anything else. I apologize for screwing ya up there .
  16. #76
The original .so has w for owner and group but the copy (.bak) that you make only has w for owner (root). To match the original (-rwxrwxr-x) you should probably

    chmod g+w libflashplayer.so.bak

    rather than a+w

I have -no- idea why your system went into read-only mode. You're in developer mode right?

Honestly, if you borked it up like this you -might- have to run webos doctor.

let me try something, I'll send you a private message right now, check your messages.

still the same result - "Read-only file system"

    the permission is: -rwxr-xr-x
  19. #79
read only file system makes it sound like somehow your filesystem was mounted as readonly. Try rebooting your touchpad and make sure it is developer mode?

    I think the command:

    chmod 755 /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

screwed it up. I am having the same thing but not good enough with linux to figure it out.
