Either your browser is currently open, or you something happened the chmod command. I didn't run the chmod command part of the instructions so I'm not sure.
If it's the latter, someone else might be able to fill you in on how to fix it, I'm not that familiar with those chmod commands.

I'll try again, I need some instruction because here is what I get.

    Code:
    XXX
    root@DebsTouchPad:/# cd /
    cd /
    root@DebsTouchPad:/#
    root@DebsTouchPad:/# cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr
    /lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so
    cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr
    /lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so
cp: can't stat '/usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak': No such fi
    le or directory
    root@DebsTouchPad:/#

This is getting above my head, but i know the chmod 755 command is changing the read/write permissions so if you can do that in any way do so.

So sorry, so sorry, my bad totally there!

I was in a hurry to get the post fixed after I was informed I couldnt add the file, I screwed up and left a MV instead of a cp.

This isnt actually a problem, if you followed my ORIGINAL instructions you can simply copy the file back, then edit it as normal with the sed command.

    So type cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

    I apologize for the confusion.

If you haven't done it already, did you already try

    cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so /usr
    /lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak

    ?

I used Internalz to copy the original to the /media directory then the command line to update... works!
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

is there a way for me to change the read only permissions? or should i reinstall?

Quick question, why run the chmod? Are the file permissions changing when you copy or run the sed command? I didn't run it, and it works ok, I'm just not sure why the permissions need to be changed.

For anyone who borked up and followed my original instructions - nothing is wrong, you just moved the flash file, so now there is no file to change with the SED command, and no flash file to be referenced.

It was supposed to be a copy, not a move.

If you are having a problem, try this:

    cd /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins

    Now type:

    ls

That should list your directory. Do you see the libflashplayer.so file? If you DONT have a libflashplayer.so file, but you DO have a libflashplayer.so.bak file, that means you followed my original flawed instructions. Simply type (all one line):

    cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

    Problem solved.

You can now run the sed command and finish with your Hulu fix .

Honestly, the chmon command might be superfluous. I was using it to ensure everything worked properly. It may work without it, but doing it wont hurt anything either :/.

    Daffy, try going:

    cd /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins

    then type

    ls

Do you see the libflashplayer.so file? what do you see in the directory?

looking at your command string, you need to reflect the new place you moved the file to. Looks like you moved it to /usr. If that's the case then you'll need to modify the string to reflect that.

    mv /usr/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

that will put you file back where it belongs, then you can go forward with the rest of the commands.

I'm not sure then, you can try the typing

    ls

and see if the libflashplayer.so file even exists in the directory, if it doesn't you might need to run the webos doctor, or find another way to get the file back on there.

thanks ncin. I did follow the original directions, and using the ls command does show me the libflashplayer.so.bak file

however using this: cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so

gives me a can;t create: read-only file system error

    tx again!

Thanks for the explanation, and thanks for the fix! Works like a charm.

My bad about the mv command. Cp is the right command. The old instructions just moved the flash file. If you are having trouble, message me.

I don't see the file at all, so I guess I will have to Doctor for the first time ever (2 year Pre and day 1 TP owner here)

    Code:
    root@DebsTouchPad:/# ls
    ls
Settings dev lib media proc tmp
bin etc lost+found mnt sbin usr
boot home md5sums.gz opt sys var
    root@DebsTouchPad:/#

    whoa whoa whoa whoa!

Can we just back up to square one?
Is this the latest and greatest?: Hulu Fix - WebOS Internals

I assume we go to dev mode and not usb drive mode, correct?

We copy/paste the whole chunk of text from that site and then BAM everything works fine?
Are we doing this copy/pasting from our PC while the TP is hooked up?
