Get the box.net app in the HP app store. 50GB free cloud storage for life. Normally goes for $20 per month. I was/am using dropbox but it's limited to 2GB.

Also, pickup Gemini file manager. You can access both box and dropbox through this app. You can do a lot of stuff like: tranfer, copy, move, delete preview files in a two pane UI. Real slick stuff.

Can you upload files to box.net without a webOS device?

Since its 50gb for life in case my touchpad takes a nosedive can I still upload and download files with my regular computer?

I believe box.net supports all other popular mobile clients (iOS, Android, Blackberry) in addition to webOS, and of course you can still access it through the web with any browser.

I'm not sure if it has a Windows/Mac client like Dropbox.
