    I've seen previous threads but with no definite answer,

    If it can't be done normally, is there any homebrew method of doing it (to recieve and send texts through the touchpad etc,

    If you have a Google Voice account, you can send and receive texts for free through your web browser.
    User of Android, Blackberry OS, WebOS and Windows Mobile (not necessarily in that order).

    From what I've seen, I think you need webOS 2.0 or higher. Might work with a Pre if you homebrew convert it to 2.0.

    Is it possible to put 2.0 onto an original pre safely then?

    Currently you can only pair it for phone calls.

    yes...posting from my touchpad via my pre - w/1.4.5 and free tether
    only can get it to work for phone calls though

    only other advantage I can see is I get my apps sent over from phone too...love this 99 dollar tab
