I was a launch day buyer of the TouchPad. Obviously my window to return to Amazon has passed. In addition I removed the UPC to get my $50 early adopter rebate.

I'm curious is anyone has called HP, raised hell, and gotten them to buy back the device? I know it's a long shot, but I agree with others in that it's just a very expensive web browser now. I doubt Amazon would take it back. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. Ugh.

I was able to return mine to Best Buy but I did e-mail them about getting the money back for all the movies I purchased.

best case I could imagine is they'd give you some credit towards some HP computer or printer. at this point, all I'll ever buy from them again is a calculator.

I'd like to know the same thing. I bought the hp care pack 1 year warranty and I'm wondering if they will at least refund that since they obviously won't be supporting the device anymore.

I think I'm super SOL since I cut out the UPC. Otherwise I would try to return back to Amazon. I wonder though if there will be a class action lawsuit from the early adopters.

What email did you use? Trying to find a way to email them is difficult.

I didn't cut my UPC code just because I thought I may not keep the TP. HP gives you 45 days after purchase to send in your UPC and proof of purchase of a legacy device for that rebate promo and i figured I'd old off until the end of the month. Looks like i'll be sending back my case as soon as it gets here from amazon since i won't be using it also. That is unless something magical happens and makes me want to keep the TP in another month or so.

Let me know. I'm at 30+ days and got it at Bestbuy. Also got accessories galore!

EDIT: BestBuy gave me a refund for my Touchpad 32gb [bought 7/21] of $450.

Were you a launch day buyer? How'd you wind up getting them to allow a return if you were?

Eh. Pre-ordered mine on Newegg. I would like to get my money back. I am a Pre owner, but I never got around to sending in the UPC for the $50.00 rebate.

I bought my from best buy on launch day, so I can't take my back, but I went ahead and chatted with HP about returning my touchpad:

08/18/2011 05:03:40PM Session Started with Agent (Jill G.)
08/18/2011 05:03:40PM Gary Phillips: "Can I return my Touchpad that I have owned since July 1st since HP has decided to completely abandon the WebOS ecosystem and no longer support my device?"
08/18/2011 05:03:42PM Agent (Jill G.): "Thank you for contacting HP Home & Home Office Store Chat. My name is Jill. How are you doing today?"
08/18/2011 05:03:59PM Gary Phillips: "NOT good!"
08/18/2011 05:04:59PM Agent (Jill G.): "Gary, I want to apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced, and I understand you want to return an item at the HP Home and Home Office Store."
08/18/2011 05:05:28PM Agent (Jill G.): "In order for me to pull up your profile, may I have your full name, email address, and order number of the HP Touchpad?"
08/18/2011 05:06:05PM Gary Phillips: "Well, I don't think it will be eligible to return since I actually bought it from Best Buy..."
08/18/2011 05:06:35PM Gary Phillips: "But, I think the least HP could do is offer full refunds since they are completely abandoning a product that they launched less than 2 months ago."
08/18/2011 05:06:43PM Agent (Jill G.): "Gary, I would like to inform you that the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center will accept product returns and exchanges for up to 21 days for purchases made at our store."
08/18/2011 05:07:32PM Agent (Jill G.): "I would love to process a return for the HP Touchpad, regrettably, we cannot process return if the product was purchased from a retailer store."
08/18/2011 05:07:56PM Gary Phillips: "Yes, I understand that is your policy..."
08/18/2011 05:08:47PM Gary Phillips: "I just find it incomprehensible that an organization such as HP would completely abandon a 1.2 billion dollar acquisition in the span of 1 year after barely launching two products that ran Web OS..."
08/18/2011 05:09:04PM Gary Phillips: "HP has taken the best operating system out there and has burned it at the stake..."
08/18/2011 05:09:21PM Gary Phillips: "I feel sorry for you as an HP employee.."
08/18/2011 05:09:31PM Gary Phillips: "The management is making very bad decisions."
08/18/2011 05:10:17PM Agent (Jill G.): "Gary, I know this has caused you trouble, but I really appreciate the feedback you have provided."
08/18/2011 05:10:33PM Gary Phillips: "Thank you."
08/18/2011 05:10:46PM Agent (Jill G.): "I myself also just returned the Touchpad after hearing the announcement."
    08/18/2011 05:11:01PM Gary Phillips: "LOL! I don't blame you."
08/18/2011 05:11:09PM Gary Phillips: "Actually, I love the device..."
08/18/2011 05:11:16PM Gary Phillips: "I would keep it, anyway..."
08/18/2011 05:11:45PM Gary Phillips: "I'm just very upset that WebOS is likely to die."
08/18/2011 05:12:18PM Gary Phillips: "Such a wonderful opportunity for a company if they would have invested two years into agressive promotion and hardware..."
08/18/2011 05:12:33PM Gary Phillips: "Hopefully, HP will license it out to HTC or Samsung."
08/18/2011 05:12:50PM Agent (Jill G.): "I understand your point of view."
08/18/2011 05:13:08PM Gary Phillips: "Ok, thank you for your time, I won't keep you."
08/18/2011 05:13:21PM Agent (Jill G.): "You are welcome."
08/18/2011 05:13:33PM Agent (Jill G.): "Do you have another concerns that I can help you with?"
08/18/2011 05:13:46PM Gary Phillips: "No, I am good."
08/18/2011 05:13:54PM Agent (Jill G.): "Should you have additional questions, please feel free to chat with us again."
08/18/2011 05:14:00PM Agent (Jill G.): "Thank you once again for using HP Home & Home Office Store Chat. We appreciate your business."
08/18/2011 05:14:05PM Gary Phillips: "will do, goodbye."
08/18/2011 05:14:15PM Agent (Jill G.): "Goodnight, Gary, I have a great time chatting with you tonight."
    08/18/2011 05:14:17PM Session Ended

Just like HP to screw even their own employees in order to try to save the pathetic mess they turned a once-excellent company into.

Amazon will take it back without the UPC. I had to return my original one b/c it was cracked at the speaker. Amazon took it back no problem!!

so I had to replace my TP at BB for the speaker crack as well. Does this swap out give you an extra return window?

I bought mine from the HP Store, on-line on 7/7 - an they have agreed to collect by courier Tuesday and do a refund. I was very nice and pleasant about it but said HPs actions left a bitter taste and after a bit more discussion the guy arranged the return.
