email - change the history of emails kept

is there a way to change how much of history to show in my inbox? On my touchPad. I can only see 1 week of emails and search doesn't retrieve past emails. In accounts setup window, only thing I can change is the password.
also, looks like folders other than my inbox are not syncing, this could also be because they are older than a week. Or it could be a different issue, and I don't know yet.
on iPhone I have a feature that says "continue to search on the server" is there anything including a patch that can do this?

preferences in the email app, choose the account you want to change, tap the setting.

thanks. That worked. My other folders synced as well.
