Hey guys so i just got a dirt cheap touchpad and it's the first for me on webos

i have android skills and apple..

so i have a few questions..

can we root it like android?whats the advantage?

what can i do to this device?

    mods?apps....

WebOS devices dont need to be "rooted." search around for webos Quick Install and preware and install preware with quick install. Thats basically your "rooting" method. Simple huh?

Edit: I'd provide links but you need 10 posts to see them.

    ya cool

hey is there like a tango for webos?

In addition to what the other posters said, definitely go to the HP App Catalog and search for "homebrew". You'll see the Preware Homebrew Documentation for 99 cents. Buy it and download it. It is just documentation, but it will tell you everything you need to know about how to use homebrew, patches, and themes.

The WebOS Internals tools/info are one of the best around when it comes to homebrew.

Not at the moment since the TouchPad is the first webOS device with a front facing camera. Maybe when the Pre 3 is released, we will get some of these types of apps. Skype is already available for the TouchPad I think.

Yup, it's baked into the message app. You can see an option for your Skype account under Accounts in settings.

Welcome to webOS. I'd read the FAQ threads in this forum and like someone else suggested, buy the $0.99 Homebrew Documentation app. It's a neatly written guide that you can keep forever and it's a great way to support the Homebrew community
