I want to get a TP, especially with falling prices but I can't justify it until I can use it to replace my old laptop. This means having remote desktop capability to my HTPC, MS Office reading and editing capabilities, and network drive access.

QuickOffice says editing will come by summer. I didn't wait around--I installed ubuntu and libreoffice, relatively painless but it takes a few hours. And it is a free application.

Remote desk capability-- log-me-in works from the desktop now but is slow, do a search for the remote desktop thread as a few others came up with different solutions that may be faster that work right now

RDP native is what I'm waiting for.
There no way I'm going to install log me in or VNC across all my windows servers

it's the only holdup to me ditching my laptop
