I have a 1320 non-network through an SEH print server. Aparently, lack of snap get support in the print server is preventing me from printing.

any thoughts about integrating CUPS in webOS through a patch. Then any printer shouldnwork =)

A good IDA output would be appreciated. I've been looking at the assembly dump.

It looks like because wprint doesn't come back with a status of 1 for either of the following, it fails to print. Think there is a way to hard-code a return code of 1 for the pcl5? =)

    pcl3gui: 0
    pcl5: 0

    Code:

Check the attachment for the output from IDA. I can attach the *.idb, but I am not sure if you can load it.

Note that, printmgr may also load load some io plugins from /usr/lib/wprint. I am still try to figure out why wprintGetCapabilities fails.

this is exactly why HP did what they did. How many printers/ink will they sell based on these firesale TouchPads?

The printer connected immediately to my wireless network, and I was able to immediately print from my TouchPad, including duplex. However, loading the voluminous software on my PC was tedious and took a few tries before it completed without error. It works now, though, and pretty smoothly.

I will say, for the record, that I find this odd: HP has iPrint photo apps that allow you to print photos on this printer from your smartphone for Symbian, Android, WinMo, iPhone-iPad-iPod Touch, but not for the TouchPad or Pre...

I ended up getting IDA demo installed and was following the path of the functions...

    _get_capabilities calls legacy_status_supports_pcl

    legacy_status_supports_pcl then calls legacy_status_get_device_id

    legacy_status_get_device_id then calls _get_snmp_status

_get_snmp_status then runs through a series of routines to setup an snmp connection and to get a status back. If it does not get a connection or gets an invalid device ID back it looks like it marks PCL support as non-existent.

Ahh, so Touchpad will only detect HP printers? How original. =/

I thought so. Is it possible to make a patch into this Print Setting to see all wireless printers? Mine is Canon MP560. Received the message about it being unsupported.

Works great with my HP Photosmart D110a. I did have one problem, where I could not print from the ColoringBook app because of a resolution quality issue. I'll test it at native resolutions with ColoringBook HD soon enough.

My touchpad prints to my Epson wireless printer. The trick is I had to install CUPS on ubuntu using ubuntuchroot.

Once that was setup the printer was detected and installed automatically.

folks, this is the same stuff that was done for Airprint for iPad.

    check this out...

Enable Airprint in Windows and use any printer

it does require a computer to be on, but it seems to be a lot easier going this route, no?

Well, thankfully QuickOffice limited the utility of being able to print. No sense in printing if you can't actually create anything worthwhile.

Works like a charm on my ancient HP Deskjet 5550.

just picked up HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer thru HP Academy store for $180 after adding the Shop50Now $50 instant coupon code since its on sale (last day of their Labor Day sale pricing). Full 2-sided color laser with fax, scan, and autofeed originally like double the price so I'm hoping this will be a huge plus to my TP printing needs. It got really good reviews so now I just have to wait and see when it gets here! I have a LJ 3055 black only but it wouldn't print and then I realized I probably need to update the firmware and drivers bc there's no reason it shouldn't work with the TP since it has a direct LAN connection in back that's hooked up to the network.

So if someone has some time, take a look at this article:

    http://blog.iharder.net/2011/01/25/s...er-with-a-mac/

I'm wondering if this would do the trick. Again, I don't have the time this morning to futz with it, but I'm thinking that if you can successfully emulate an HP via PostScript for a MAC, if the detection process is anything standard, maybe this would work?

anyone know how to get a USB connected printer to work. The tp does not automatically recognize it and there is no ip address and I have an HP Officejet....

Using the airprint for windows hack and 2 changes to /etc/printmgr/printmgr.conf (thanks to jhoff80 for pointing out this file) - see earlier in thread
This hack may also be used on Linux using Avahi for zeroconf

    The changes are:
    "wprintIppBypass":false,
    "chooseIppOverPdl":true,

IPPBypass - - this allows zeroconf to detect IPP printers (apple bonjour) which is the same protocol as zeroconf
    https://developer.palm.com/content/a.../zeroconf.html
IppoverPdl -this allows the printer to be accessed via port 631 (IPP) vs 9100 (PDL)

Then access the PrintManager on the touchpad and the print queue will automatically be found.
I have a USB connected HP Photosmart printer connected to my Windows 7 PC

    Auto Discovered
    HP Photosmart D7100 series @HP-PC
    IP address of PC

Problem is when you go to print, it will fail with
"Unable to communicate with the printer at this time. (error -402)

Look at the bottom of this link to see the error code
"communication: failed to get printer capabilities"
    https://developer.palm.com/content/a...t-manager.html

This can be verified with luna-send
    https://developer.palm.com/content/a...etCapabilities

Problem is HP is also checking for printer info. via SNMP
(thanks dereckmartin, teng_lin and ggendel and NuttyBunny) for the info in previous posts

I added SNMP to windows 7 but I was wondering could I use the HP WebJetAdminProxy Agent to respond to the 4 SNMP requests pointed out by NuttyBunny

    Update:
The HP WebJetAdmin Proxy Agent will provide for querying of printer MIB

someone should make a printing app that enables all wifi printers to work, people would buy it!
