    Over $100 and under $1000

Very very very very likely to be $700 +

The Xoom isn't that expensive for fun.

It is because the technology is expensive.

Android is free, WebOS is not.

    It's likely to be $700 - $900 unsubsidized.

I'm hoping for a $500 dollar price point to $700. I can't imagine it would be much more then that for only a 16GB.

if the 16gb is any more than 500 then they're shooting themselves in the foot. I remember reading somewhere that they wanted to be 100 less than the ipad...guess we'll see. Not like they came through on their claims on releasing them right away. I figured they would learn from the original pre launch. You have to put your product on the market when it's fresh and people are thinking about it. Step it up HP.

my guess is at least $599.

It's gotta be 499 or less. They didn't make it plastic instead of aluminum to increase production costs.

    60% of iPad 2 price.
Decreasing by increments of 10% for every month the release date slips (it will).

Sorry, I don't think this will be any less than the iPad.
It's top of the line technology!
It's easily going to be $700 or $800 without contract.

I understand what you're saying but you have to understand that technology is brand new and is therefore expensive.

The Motorola Xoom is going to be $799 unsubsidized.
The touchpad has a slighty faster core.

That means that, unsubsidized, it's likely to be around $799 or more.

Here is a quote from ZDNet review.....

"Price is such a big deal because HP has no clout in the tablet market. HP can’t really freeze the market like Apple did on Wednesday. In many respects, HP’s TouchPad unveiling has Palm written all over it. Announce a product well in advance of ability, provide incremental updates and when it launches officially you pray that the device is still relevant. Sound familiar? It’s the same playbook Palm used before it launched the Pre."

I think anything $500 or over is DOA.

Ummmm, I thought that HP owns WebOS, so wouldn't WebOS be "free" as far as HP is concerned? I'm confused.

Thread cleaned. Talk about the technology, not each other. Otherwise the thread will be closed down.

    No, I'm being realistic.
I'm giving you the likely price, not what I want it to be.

    Correct, they do.
But it still has software work involved in the cost.

The fact is that the technology is expensive and the software work is adding to that.

UNSUBSIDIZED this will be a minimum of $700.

Let's remember, the XOOM is competing with the iPad as well.
The price isn't as high as it is simply for fun.

you should add free or you get $50 gift card for getting one
  19. #19
Your price point cuts out too soon. Definitely will be over $600.
  20. #20
    people keep talking about unsubsidized...

That will be the WIFI ONLY OPTION which should fall in the 400-500 range.

The 3G and 4G options can get up to 600-700.
