RIM announced the feature, which will come with its Blackberry 7 operating system, at the GITEX conference in Dubai. Blackberry Tag will allow users to use wireless technology to 'tap and share' with each other.

Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO at RIM said, "BlackBerry Tag is an exciting and innovative feature that makes sharing contact information and multimedia content effortless and seamless,"
Blackberry owners will be able to add people on Blackberry Messenger using the system. It will also allow users to share things like contact information, documents, web sites, photos and other multimedia by tapping two phones together.

The method relies on near field communications (NFC) technology that is in some of RIM's latest handsets such as the Bold 9900 and the Curve 9350. The firm also plans to let developers use Blackberry Tag through application programming interfaces.

Because HP hasn't developed that functionality and more than likely never will.
