Is there any US carrier yet that has allowed for a tablet to be sold as a phone so you have voice capabilities and don't need a separate data plan?

I don't know of any. Do you guys? Serious, snark-free question.

I was hoping they would change the name. Using "pad" in the name is to derivative

One of the podcasts I listen to (WebOS Radio maybe?) suggested that name sounds too much like a feminine product.
    My device history:

    - Jim J.

That would be a mighty coup for HP to achieve. Will they? I really hope so.

Considering it is on the 4G Network, this is a good possibility. If this makes calls (non skype) this is my next Palm purchase. If not, I will get the phone version.

other than screen size, I can't imagine dividing features to make 3 or 4 models.

I like the size of the galaxy tab for web and email. The iPad if it were to displace my netbook.

what else would they differentiate? Colored housing?

but, I was totally wrong about the iPad so I'm gonna just sit over in this corner and expect to learn from what comes from all of this.

I'm... sooo.... excited. Depending on the price points, I'll get one right away! I've been looking forward to this for a while.

    Potentially Wifi/3G/4G

WiFi for all, 3g for Verizon, and 3g/4g for Sprint?

Larger storage capacities on different models.... possible expansion slots?(guessing)

    Not that hard to picture...

for the Educational they may not Inlcude certain Functions like but rather make them downloadable or Restricted completely.. maybe a basic music player... where as the consumer version will have a more robust Music app...

Huh? I don't have a USB 3.0 port on my Pre Plus right? I don't have any idea what "multi-switch" means in this case either.
I don't think the USB applied to the "just like the Pre" comment, I think they were only referring to the muti-switch. In this case, I think they're talking abut the mute switch.

I hadn't looked at it that way. You are right that each carrier/radio could be considered a model. And the current trend is to give similar models to each carrier but change the name and mayve the look.

the thing that jumps out at me is that palm would be building a wimax device. I really didn't think they would do that, but I have been wrong before.

And then GSM of course. Can't market it worldwide otherwise.

Edit: Which requires 2 models, since AT&T uses different 3G bands than T-Mobile/rest of the world
