Thanks for the guide thomaz. Now we need to experts to chip in on fixing this USB break. Or lead us to a way for this without breaking the USB mode.
Does this work for the Touchplayer also now?

Also would like to know why the share is not being AUTO mounted at boot time (that is why you added auto in the line). You should not have to run the shell script each time to mount the share. Anyone now why this is happening?

Im having issues. I followed the directions to a "T" but nothing gets mounted. Any suggestions?

Also, are we on the same page in saying that I am sharing a folder from my Mac using Samba, but the TP is not mounting it throwing errors.

In fstab I have the following

Quote:
//192.168.1.4/Movies /media/internal/nas cifs auto,username=Shared,password=******,rw 0 0
and I get "Invalid argument" with mount -a

samba/CIFS setup can be tricky. Be sure you actually have a share on your Mac called Movies. Also, username should be YOUR Mac username, not "Shared", unless, of course, your username really is Shared. :-)

edit: did you make a "nas" directory in /media/internal?

Well I know the share exists I can see it on a windows pc, so that shouldn't be the issue. I also created the Shared user just for this and gave it access so that's not the issue either. Kind of baffled here!

Yes the nas directory exists as well....

Not sure what the "invalid argument" is as i've copied the command exactly. Sigh!

No firewalls. Even made my iMac a DMZ host so its fully exposed and still no go. Really stumped here....

The USB mode should work again as long as you unmount the CIFS shares.
I tried using USB drive mode without problems after the CIFS shares were unmounted

so basically if I read this correct we need 2 *.sh files:
1- to mount the shared dir
2- to unmount the shared dir when we want to use USB mode?

Is this correct? What will be the 2nd file look like? (sorry for the noob question, I am not and linux/It guy)

Is this the usb host mode that you are talking about? Can you help here or in that thread about a way to get the /media/internal/usb directory talked about there to permanently mount?

"usb mode" is when u connect the touchpad via usb to a computer and select to use it as removeable device.

with mounted shares touchpad says that usb mode doesnt work when u try to use it as removeable device.

Tried and worked... just run "umount.cifs /media/internal/nas" to unmount the share and reenable usb mode. No reboot needed.

First of all, Thanks OP for your efforts.

I tried to follow the instructions and was able to go through the end. I am able to mount the files as instructed in 8b. The files are visible and the Touchplayer can play them.

However when executing the "ksmp.sh" I get the following error:
mount error: can not change directory into mount target /var/palm/jail/com.kalemsoft.ksmplayera/media/internal/nas

Consequently, the Kalemsoft MP does not show the nas files. What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to get step 8b to work, but I am having the same problem as mailtms. When I run "ksmp.sh", I get the following error mount error: can not change directory into mount target /var/palm/jail/com.kalemsoft.ksmplayera/media/internal/nas. I was going to play around with it to see what the problem is.
