First post and I come to you with help...

I love my Pre 3. I've had all the pre handsets that came to the UK, but something's happened and I don't know how to fix it!

As I was removing the SIM card, the metal casing that holds it in place just came clean off, and now all it says is 'Check SIM'.

Any ideas, guys? Or is my Pre 3 doomed?

    Thanks!

    Dan

This is a first, seeing that kind of issue (huge defect).
if you kept the metal piece, an idea imo is :

    1) put the sim gently in place
    2) put the metal down on it
    3) use a good adesive strip on top of it, to keep it in place

probably should be enough to guarantee the correct pressure. you could add some extra soft layer on top to reach the curve of the back (thus ensuring no movements)

I don't think this is uncommon. If it's just the holder (not the pins), can you start by taping the sim in place? Or maybe you can carefully glue the existing holder back. Maybe this will help:

    Power off.

    Place Sim where it belongs.
    Apply duct tape.

    Reboot.

If it works you can replace the back cover and forget about it. Have you done this already?

Holding it in place didn't work but (thankfully) I had a spare adaptor I could use.

    It worked flawlessly!

Thanks all of your for your replies
