I've rebooted the phone 3 times and it keeps running with a high load average , full throttled cpu , etc.

    top shows

    com.palm.services.contacts.linker.jsjsjs /$usr$/$share$/$ls2$ $at$ $48$% $cpu$ .....

any suggestion / help is going to be appreciated

    Hi, Mazzinia,

Besides rebooting your device, you could try a battery pull or using UberKernel. However, you may want to take this as an opportunity to doctor before the option no longer exists if other problems have been arising.

Do let me know if that does the trick or what else you try, we need to keep our devices breathing.

    Sincerely,
    ~Ted

had no issues until now, so I would like to keep the doctor as a last last option...
The only thing that I added today was the patch to keep a copy of the installed ipks from the catalog, and doubt it should be the culprit.

I've just done a full shutdown ( not a reboot ) , aka "shutdown to remove the battery"... will see if it helps. Feck, I don't even remember how to remove the cover (panic mode on)

There's been an issue of syncing contacts with Google... i wonder if that's what you're having
  5.    #5
I did actually import the pmmigration.vcf from the phone to google ..... and run the command to remove duplicates ( on the web )

    ....

if it's due to this , what are my options ?
wait to see if it "rearranges or whatever" everything, or I do better to remove the google account, and add it back ?

    Note, the phone is "isolated" , no data now, and wifi is off. Still that .jsjsjs $is$ $running$ $at$ $close$ $to$ $50$% ( $tried$ $to$ $kill$ $it$ $and$ $it$ $restarted$ )
  6.    #6
ok, pulled the trigger... removed the gmail account..

I don't see benefits ( I've not rebooted ), but the load average is slowly going down .
I took the measure when it was at around 10.8... now is at 9.95 and slowly going down, but the cpu is fixed at 1.4ghz

    going up... and getting hotter

rebooted... blank screen, is not restarting

wonderful.. restarted bt with a blank screen. and looks fully restarted too

now screen is back.... still high load average and such

If you have a backup of all contacts, it might help to clear the contacts out and see
  9.    #9
I do have a backup, but shouldn't have been enough to remove the google account ?
( that had 2084 contacts inside)
On the hp profile I have 0 accounts, on hotmail and etc at most I have 200 in total
  10.    #10
err... it still reacts to touches on the screen, opens the folders... but doesn't launch any app, including the phone dialer

    had to pull the battery

lumberjack apparently crashed the phone, or at least I lost totally control of the screen and buttons after trying to use it to peek at the logs

Sounds like your database has gotten out-of-control bloated. Ouch. If i were you, i'd probably Novaterm into the bootloader and try to replace the database with an earlier backup, but if you don't have one, i suggest doing a "recovery mode" backup (search for thread) and starting over. There should be a cleaner solution, but i'm afraid the tools for that haven't been built

rebooted with cable and Ares running ....
removed TWO apps I installed today, after I read about the shutting down of the store...

I've started to see the cpu go down to 200mhz ... , load is down to 8.something. I'll keep it monitored.
Ares is "calm" , not showing practically any activity now.

    The 2 apps are :
    Hampton Catlin - Dictionary (free)
omoco - packet tracker lite (free)

... one of these 2 is the culprit. Will keep the phone monitored for a while, anyway I'm sure I'll not reistall those to check which was causing the problem, I prefer to not take chances.

    I think you've got it

It looks like the browser has leaked a HTML5 database object in a way that there's a piece of database file structure attached in a place where it shouldn't be.

So it's a piece of a HTML5 database getting stuck in a BerkeleyDB database (which is what LunaSysMgr uses). This is it. What you posted is a piece of binary with all of the nulls dropped, so yeah, your database is corrupted.

If you have an earlier copy of the database, you would be able to push it in place using WOSQI after saving this one to your computer, but what i'm thinking, you might have some luck fixing the database by hand if you use an editor like Notepad++ and select "view all characters" when you open up objects.db ...and try to figure out the binary "partitions" between database entries, and copy/paste (or delete) a part of it to normalize the database "scaffolding".

But then, no-one should have to have to do this. I'm really sorry. But what you're facing now is pretty similar to why my Touchpad won't boot, and i haven't gotten down to fixing it

Edit:.....on the other hand, you could be right in your update. But it's not the only time the database has malfunctioned for some of us. I suppose a dictionary might cause a "harmless" database bottleneck.

I hope you're keeping the IPKs for those apps
  20.    #20
yep, I'm keeping those 2.. installed on purpose to grab the ipks (just didn't expect this kind of result).
But on the long run it would be way more useful to pull all the apps (at least the free ones) automatically, also to not bog the dbs
