My pre3 had an webOS update 2.2.4 2211 this morning, anyone know what it updates?

Probably just another phantom update that isn't actually an update.

Are you on 2.2.3? Updates BT radio software, don't remember what else, been too long.

Interesting: Perhaps due to the doctoring...

    FYI:

My unlocked UK Pre3 is on v.2.2.4 Build 3175 and a "Check for Updates" reports "... up to date".

My backup AT&T Pre3 is still in it's box (activated once to SIM unlock).

Sidenote: Keep in mind webOS cloud services certificates are due to expire next month; it's reported that HP is doing something about it, so I'd expect an update within the next month, lest pandemonium breaks out with people unable to access App Catalog and updates backups.

I love pandas - oh wait you said pandemonium. I forgot about that - yeah they better update that.

Could the 2211 be the new expiration date on certificates?

I also removed the att packages and I got an update like that earlier and it had the same effect. I haven't noticed any change.

same update installed again today, will be removing att navigator and yellowpages search and amazon mp3 store, hope this doesn't become a weekly event, I create a script to remove these.
    can attsyncpanel also be removed?

Use a terminal or novacom terminal to type commands

    to remove Navigation app

    root@Pre3:/# ipkg remove com.telenav.attnavigation

    to remove yellowpages app.

    root@Pre3:/# ipkg remove com.yellowpages.ypmobile.preload

    to remove amazon music store

    root@Pre3:/# ipkg remove com.palm.app.amazonstore

more info here to find and remove ipkg

What is AT&T "Vanilla" for the Pre3 and why is there no 2.2.4 version?

long ago got 2.2.4 OTA and took off the apps not wanted (nav,amazMP3,yellow) and no updates offered since although the updater is turned on ...sounds like your fone needs to schedule a visit with the doctor...

can these be updated by manual command somehow to avoid the whole shebang of the full update and subsequent mess ??
  15. #15
oh, yes, I should mention I noticed I have NOT removed the yellowpages app ...could that be the one triggering those pesky updates ??

I dont notice any difference except for those 3 apps of att, patches and preware all the same, like new device menu patch, govner, widgets etc. Also I am in Australia.

Lazy tip: I just have a final page in my launcher labelled "Junk" where I put any apps, etc, that I never use. That includes the redundant shortcuts to stuff like the browser that are already in the wave bar. It's only like 9 apps, but it declutters the rest nicely.
