Hi every one!

I bought an ATT Pre 3 month back and after a doctor, few patch and Uberkernel installation I'm loving it so much my android phones are just sitting there collecting dust.

One thing I really do dislike on this phone are the rounded off black corners of the display. It's a waste of screen real state. I've read on these forums to use WOSQI 3.14 to "squrify" the screen in the Tools>Tweaks menu, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Is there any way to remove the rounded corners?

P.S. Also, how do I turn the top and bottom notifications bars 75% transparent so that it stills shows my background, instead of them being just black?

Thank you in advance for all your help and directions.

Sorry for being unconstructive, but how do you propose the few dozen pixels be used? Corner status indicators? It was originally designed to fit into the curve of the Pre. I think it was actually quite hard to distinguish where the screen begins with the rounded corners, giving the feel that the actual LCD was round.

if you have Internalz pro installed you can just go to /usr/palm/sysmgr/images and at the bottom of the list are 4 .PNG files for the corners. They are wm-corner- (location). If you rename them or just add a file extension to their current name, ie .orig at the end and save them, they will not load the black rounded corners. You will need to do a Luna restart also.
also go to /usr/lib/luna/system/luna-applauncher/images and rename launcher-scrim.PNG for a clear launcher bar. That removes the launcher background I believe.
I have done these on my pre2 with 2.2.4. Good luck.

You can wipe out the corners, there's just one problem: even without the corner images loading, the apps are still going to display rounded corners and you'll just see your background peeking through. You're not gaining any screen space by doing this (and there's not really much to gain), all you'll do is add a visual distraction.

webOS smartphone apps are designed with the rounded corners in mind. Killing it OS-level won't change the apps.

My phone shows square corners in the apps. The rounded corners do not show in apps. I think he is just a fan of square corners. And you are correct, it has no effect on the apps themselves. Strictly appearance only. You actually do get a very minute bit more screen image as when viewing maps, etc. It will fill in maps all the way into the corners.

Enyo apps have square corners. Mojo apps, for the most part, do not.

Not on my Pre2 - they are rounded like any other app. The only time they are square is if you rotate the phone.

I did this with WOSQI>Send file and replaced all four images with transparent ones and the black rounded corners are still there.

Also I don't mean the launcher background, I mean the bottom notification bar, the one that comes up when you get a new text or email

try my way as I posted before. Just rename those files so they do not load at all.
not sure about the notification bar. Haven't looked for that one. I use all black for everything.

hmmmm. Worked for me. Pre 2 with 2.2.4. Have you restarted the phone since then? Power off, then back On. Also I should note that minimized cards still have rounded corners. They are squared when in full view.
you might try this...I only have the top right and top left PNG files renamed. I did not do the bottom left and right but all corners are squared.
good luck

Mainly what I want to do is to have a clear launcher scrim when the apps are pulled up, I do not care much for the rounded corners. I did a luna and soft reset and still the same. How can I have a clear or transparent launcher screen? Thank you before hand for any tips.
