New Verizon Pre3 successfully activated using MyVerizon online.

Notification are message: Network switch. Deice auto switches to Global. What is this?

I also have a series of questions about settings in Phone - Preferences:

    1. Accounts - there's an Add account option. What accounts might it be referring to (other than #2 below)
    2. Visual voicemail- this is an account that can be added....what is it?
    3. Security - Lock SIM Card (requires entering a PIN). THere's a Verizon SIM that came in the phone...is it used? See #5 below.
    4. Security - Restricted Dialing - on/off and View Restricted Dialing List. This is in the same submenu as #2...does it relate to SIM?
    5. Network - Verizon Wireless is autofilled. Voice Network "Automatic-B" is preselected. Other options are Carrier Only and Automatic - A. What is this?
    6. Network - Data Roaming is preselected as Disabled with other option Enabled. What is this?
    7. World Phone - Preselected is Global with other options as CDMA Mode and GSM/UMTS Mode. What are these and what effect does it have on phone use?

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Accounts you can have CDMA account, Skype, and SIM account.
    2. Visual Voice Mail allows you to see and hear and manage your voice mail from your device it is like $2 or more depending on the account you have with Verizon.
    3. Yes you can lock the SIM, so if someone steals the phone, they can not just take your cell # and stored contacts to another phone.
FYI a non activated Vodafone SIM is there by default.
    4. You can restrict which # to call or receive a call from CDMA or SIM.
    5. You can select which network is used Verizon, a Roaming partner, or SIM network.
    6. Unless you want to pay roaming charges, do not enable roaming, where this is an issue is where there is a boarder Detroit. MI/Windsor, CA.
    7. Global, utms, cdma only, to save battery keep it on cdma. Global when you want to roam/SIM out of USA. UTMS is you just want SIM network. (AT&T? In USA, I have heard others have tried and voice/text worked data did not).
