I got an unlocked Pre 3 (ATT) as a gift and am using a Rogers SIM card in Canada.
The only outbound calls I can make using the onscreen dial pad are voicemail and 911. All others, I can tap a number onscreen and hit dial but instead of dialing out, the screen clears the number and says "enter name or number" all over again. It will also not dial when I tap a contact. The only way I can make outbound calls is to use the physical keyboard. Anyone else have this problem? Any idea what might be causing this and how to solve? |

have you ever received any suggestions on this issue...i too have the same problem and posted on this forum. My carrier is Verizon. I have called both Verizon and HP - both were willing to help - but no luck with either...i tried everything - even doctoring the device.

I have the same issue since I updated to 2.2.4. (European Pre3|Vodafon|HP employee)
A redoctoring with 2.2.4. was also not successful. - dial from dial pad isn't possible (mailbox possible) - dial from phone log isn't possible (mailbox possible) - dial from phone favorites isn't possible (mailbox possible) - dial from contact app isn't possible only dial from Just Type is possible On my Pre2 (Europaen Pre2|Vodafon|privat use). I have no problems I try to redoctor the Pre3 with 2.2.0 and post the results. |

The solution:
- if necessary make a backup of the internal media drive - it make sence to write down all of your installed applications ![]() - deactivate the backup and delete safed data - Select "Geräteinformationen" (device information) exact english terminology unknown sorry - select "Optionen zum Zurücksetzen" - select "Vollständig löschen" and confirm once more - device is restarting - go through the initial process - select first item to login to your known account - then take a lot of time to reconfigure your device

Anybody have a solution to this? My wifes Pre2 has the same symptoms and Scholle3000's solution of full erase doesnt work. I have tried doctoring it and no luck so its definitely something with the profile. Its like there is some hidden setting thinking its 6 digit dialing not 9 digit. Again its only the onscreen keypad that is having the issue. The keyboard dialing works.

Had that on my frankenpre2.
It seems to be the combination of patches I had on. Had to redoctor and add them one by one and not used the saved packages option from preware. UberCalendar was failing as far as I can remember. After the redoctoring I still couldn't get it to work. After the 2.2.4 update it got fixed but then my Advanced System Menus is not updating correctly although seems to work just fine. Didn't bother fixing it. |

Hello any idea how to create new account? what kind of account? HP account?
From account manager I could only create some emails, skype etc.. not option for hp account? do I need to erase all phone and during first start up create new one? What is the reason such a dial disablity ? I have palm 3 days and such a problem appeared d just right now.Andrew |

This also happens on the Pre2 and is related to the HP account which holds your profile and stored apps.
My wife had this problem on both the phones and it is only with 2.2.4. The only solution I found was to get her to create another account which meant wiping the phone (from device info) and basically starting again. Alan |

I have same issue in UK. My Pre3 stopped dialing out a few months ago - when I had issues with some apps (Uber calendar being one of them).
Now I know the keypad still dials successfully I'm less inclined to go through the whole process of starting my profile again and losing my purchased apps. Also concerned that my Touchpad will need to be reconfigured too! |
