Using the Pre 3 and webOS as a music player is abysmal. Example -

On an iPod or iPhone ------

    * Audio book title
    • Disc 1
      • Track 1
      • Track 2
      • Track 3
      • etc
    • Disc 2
      • Track 1
      • Track 2
      • Track 3
      • etc
    On the Pre 3

    Track 1
    Track 1
    Track 2
    Track 2
    Track 3
    Track 3

....... makes for a very disjointed audiobook...

Anyone have any way around this....

It's not picking up the disc numbers from the tags?

One work around would be to rename it as Audio book title - CD1 and Audio book title - CD2 and it should seperate them that way.

I guess the answer would be not to load the same disc/tracks twice???

....... yeah.... What I need to do is go in and change all tracks to chapter titles. Make it easier for my Pre to know what to do with them. Or just load a disc at a time....

He was ribbing you for having two "disc 1"
I love physical keyboards... but there is two devices that would make me consider a slab, one is something running a full version of Open webOS. The other is an iPhone!!!! HA HA just kidding (about the iPhone that is)...

Yep. That I know. I copied and pasted.... I was just saying that in order to make it work regardless, I would need to change track titles to chapter names.

The vanilla music player is really bad. The touchpad version can't deal with my fairly modest music collection, so if I shuffle, it only does the first 100 tracks or so.

    +1 for music player remix.

You could just try FFPlayer in Preware. That's what I use for audiobooks as the standard player is hopeless when the tracks get long (many audio books have tracks of several hours at a time and you can't get back to where you left off).

Music Player Remix works ok for this but it is massive overkill for what I need and it won't display tracks until the webos music service 'sees' them which I find can take days and sometimes never seems to pick them up.

FFPlayer will just look at the filesystem and play all the files in a folder in title sort order so provived you give suitable titles to the tracks it will work regardless of the metadata which makes for a lot less fiddling around. Oh, and it bookmarks automatically so you can always come back to where you left off however long the tracks are.

FFPlayer is good for Audiobooks, yes. As a tip for the recognition: Put your Music into the Music-Folder and also you should eject your Pre when you are finished with copying (or just unplug it). The system has a problem if you safely remove your phone to recognise new files.

Technically the issue isn't with the ejecting/safe removal, BTW you should always have the phone no longer in USB mode before pulling the cable, the problem lies in a media indexing bug in 2.x and 3.x, I have seen some say they had it in 1.x but after nearly 2 years of 2 devices on 1.x I never saw it like I have in 2.x.
