hi maybe a basic newbie question but... How do I connect my touchpad to my pre 3 with freetether? I checked the wiki but do not seem to "get it".

    my probably wrong understanding
    1. Bluetooth will not work
    2. I need to join via cable bit have not seen pre3 to touchpad type cable available anywhere.
    3. Pre 3 as nw hotspot I tried this but does not seem to work at all

What is a newbie doing wrong? Can about advise?

    thanks
    PD

I had a couple of issues with freetether and my pre 3.
before my last doctor, I just had to install it, remove it,and reinstall it before it worked just fine.
after my doctor (ie currently), I need to restart the pre 3 in between freeterher usages. A bit uncomfortable but yet, I get to use me TP everywhere ;-)

I use Freetether in wifi mode. Set up the wifi network in Freetether, connect to it with the Touchpad just like any other wifi network. Works fine. I do restart the Pre3 after I'm done.

I had to uninstall/reboot/reinstall about 3x before it kicked in and started working. Now it's fine. Some quirky little bug in the installer that's probably a bear to track down because it doesn't always give the same results.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a known bug, but there seems to be some bugginess to free tether on the Pre 3. If you reboot your phone it will generally work up until the first use, but then a reboot is needed the next time you want to use it. Generally, I just reboot my phone as soon as reasonably possible after I finish using free tether so it is ready to be turned on the next time.

BTW--I never had this issue in all the time I had it on my Pre Plus.

Yes you have to reboot your Pre 3 if you want to use FreeTether again, but it is a small price to pay when I am working in Las Vegas and staying at a casino that wants to charge me $19.99 a day to use their wireless internet access. Awesome app BTW.

thank you all, will uninstall and re-try wi-fi setup again. Good to know it is slightly buggy and not just a complete lack of understanding.

Wifi works fine - as long as you leave it running. If you want to use Wifi on your 3, you will want to close FreeTether and then reboot the phone before you can use it again. Wish it would get fixed...

I'm able to connect my Pre 3 to the TP, but then I can't get on the internet. I get an error screen that says it "Can't Resolve host." Anyone else have this problem?

You may want to check try this instead of rebooting :

As an update. Turns out it does work, but seems to do it properly after closing the app for an undetermined amount of time.
Turn Wifi tethering off, close the app, wait.
Open it again and it will show both dhcp and ip forwarding both turned off. They can be enabled again after this.
