Default Classic on Pre 3?

My VZW Pre 3 is on the way, after spending a small fortune.

Will the "make Classic work on 2.x" solution (in another thread) work on the Pre 3?

I have the package I made per those instructions ready to go--it has worked perfectly on my 2.x Verizon Pre 2.

Has anyone gotten it to work on the Pre 3? I presume it will download when I add my Profile to the device, but will that patch work?

Thanks.

I was not able to get it to work. I don't believe anyone else has, either.

The virtual Centro buttons are shown, but the main screen stays dark. So actually, the mApps frame is loaded and shown, but not the Access Garnet part.

Idem, after many hours testing it. Just dark screen. RIP Palmos!

Out of curiousity, what was the most recent version of webOS that could run Palm Classic?

2.1 - I had it running great on a vzw Pre2 (with some work). No such luck on the Pre3.

+1. Actually, I switched back from the Pre3 to the Pre2 as my primary mobile productivity device, due to the ability to read mobipocket ebook manuals. Short loading time, nice performance (compared to meta-doctored Pre1).

As long as there are no kindle ebooks for my specific needs, no kindle webos phone app (and no audible webOS app btw.), I will stick to Classic and my Pre2.

But BTT: Could the black screen be some kind of webOS jail problem?

Would it then theoretically run on a Veer, or is the resolution all wrong?

Veer would be a nightmare to try and use classic on, you would have no screen.

Have you tried pReader Alpha to read your mobipocket ebook manuals?

It actually works quite well on the Veer. The navigation area changes to just some buttons and a toggle button so you don't loose that much real estate.

I am on the Pre 3 now, but am very close to going back to the Veer for classic.
I really miss document editing.

Yes, doesn't include the javascript functions of mobipocket ebooks. Which makes it pretty useless using any kind of manual or dictionary. Or any other kind of ebook that is not intented to be read continously from page 1 to page 1489.
