It also says that I can cancel anytime up until they ship the item. I also got a jawbone bluetooth headset for $29 due to ordering a phone.
So husband might get mad for a night.....but if they get stock, I will end up with a 16GB which will make me happier since memory will not be a downgrade from my 16GB Pre 2....plus a QWERTY keyboard after all that.
Fingers crossed and they get a sale price from HP.
Hate to say but I have great doubt that a 16GB will ever see the light of day - if they've even been produced.

If you type fluently without looking while using a normal computer keyboard it will probably feel akward using a layout you are not used too. Your brain will move your fingers toward a certain location but your eyes will detect its the wrong key due to the different layout, its not more than a small hesitation while you figure out where the key has been moved but to me its disturbing enough and im using a QWERTZ instead of QWERTY ie just Z and Y have shifted position.

On a AZERTY these keys have swapped position
    A - Q
    W - Z
    M to BACKSPACE
    BACKSPACE to ,

Way to akward for me but everyone is different.

In the expansys.fr general conditions it basically says that according to a EU directive the customer has the right to return the product within 14 days of receiving it. The product must "be fit for re-commercialisation" and the buyer pays for return shipping.

So if the prices lowers or QWERTY's become available, you can always return it.

Yes, it is an unknown. I'd like to give it a shot though anyway since I have a 16GB Pre 2. I load it up with podcasts....I could go down to 8GB, but would be happier to stick with 16GB if I can. So....I'm taking a chance. I can always still try to get an 8GB on the chance that the 16GB doesn't come....or I can wait and see with the 16GB first and then look to eBay if I need to. Hope to see a cheap 8GB so as I have options.....no luck yet though.

I thought there were a lot of posters that said if you set your language as English it will auto map to qwerty?

it is a physical!!!!!!!!! keyboard, how should this auto map? just think a second about it

I think what he means is that if you set the language to English on a AZERTY-Pre 3, the key labeled A will produce a Q when clicked. As far as I understand, this is possible out of the box, no need for patching or so.

I have seen people ask this question, but have not seen it answered. Has anyone else seen the answer or is it all just speculation?
With the Pre 2 and earlier devices, there was a way of changing a file in webOS that changed the keyboard. There is a thread on it http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pr...d-mapping.html

I was looking for a way to physically remap the keyboard since I constantly look at the keypad during typing and I will likely make many typing mistakes if it is not qwerty style.

The link that I just posted was the link for the previous phones that re-mapped the keys...so as the software mapping has changed. The physical key will not be changed unless you find a spare keyboard part and physically modify the hardware to insert the qwerty keyboard. At the moment, I have not seen any spare keyboard parts...and since the phone is new, there is not likely to be spare parts until broken phones have been pulled apart.
So, for now, you could perform the modification to the software and then write the changed letters on top of the other ones.

hi everyone! this is my first post and i wanted to thank you for the great community you have here, i've been reading you since februarys announcement waiting for the pre 3!
so yesterday i bought the azerty pre 3 from expansys.fr and i would like to know from those of you who already got it how's the azerty keyboard working for you.
Is the azerty for every language or if you choose another such as spanish if it remaps the keyboard so that when you press A it types Q?
i'm coming from a samsumg galaxy s and wanted to try out the webOS goodness

I have ended up cancelling my order for the (phantom?) 16GB Pre 3....since I am getting sent an 8GB (with a QWERTY kb) from someone in the UK. I am so happy. It is costing me $457 AUD.
I hope that I don't regret this....but I think it's better to go with the guaranteed 8GB rather than wait and see if the 16GB gets produced. Yes, I am going to go from a 16GB Pre 2, to an 8GB Pre 3....but it is still QWERTY which is great....so I am very happy....now if I see that 16GB I might have regrets though.

    Welcome.
There has only been questions about this....but I have not seen proof yet that it works this way. There was a patch that you could do to other webOS phones to achieve this though, so it might be the same for the Pre 3.

You should be able to meta doctor the phone, whenever the real doctor is released. I am getting serial not correct when I try to get the doctor on the webos account page.

    yesterday I got my pre3 woooowwww!!!! :-)

it's an AZERTY version and, to tell you the truth, apart from a couple of initial problems, now, after one day...I have no problem at all!

In alternative to the qwerty version I suggest it for sure!

Seems like the AZERTY is no more. Expansys.fr has removed the listing.
