A webOS phone with the pebble style, but the Epic form factor, otherwise. It could be slightly smaller -- between the Pre3 and Epic range. I love my side slider, though.

pre3 on sprint and I'm cool...
  3. #43
    I havent actually touched a Pre3, but i would say hardware-wise:

    Pre3 form factor
    Retina-quality display
    SD card slot
a really good rear camera w/dedicated camera button
    decent front camera
    Sprint WiMax

All of these things should have been included in the Pre3 when they announced it way back when.

My dream phone for webOS would be a Pre Plus (Verizon). Mine got damaged in the Joplin tornado and now it's cracked all over the place, oreos, and the touchscreen gets wonky to where I have to pull the battery. I'm content with the features it has, (excluding the gps thing). Actually... If I had gorilla glass in this Plus... Well it's wishful thinking anyways ^_^

I'm happy with webOS and the direction it's going. I do my best to convert the 'droid fans here in the midwest.

    Viva la webOS

    I <3 webOS!

Just Sprint....all I want is Sprint

If we designed a smartphone to sell now, we would have been spec'ing it out two years ago and finalized design a year ago. But Palm said that they lost a year's development cycle...

Flagship Phones released 1H2011 are typically:
4"+ Display SAMOLED, qHD, 3D, etc.
    miicroSD (over 95%)
    Memory (doesn't matter with microSD)
    HDMI
    DLNA
Models for all Carriers US & world
    4G
    1200MHz+ dual core
    1024MB RAM
Rear Camera: 5-8MP, Autofocus, Zoom, 1080p HD
    Front Camera: 1MP+
    Voice Control

4Q2011 will be like the Galaxy S III:
Add: NFC (peer to peer) and USB OTG (memory stick, etc.)
    4.3"+ Displays SAMOLED, qHD+
miicroSD (64GB will be out, but no need to ship with more than 32GB)
    Memory (doesn't matter with microSD)
    HDMI
    DLNA
    All Carriers US & world
    4G
    1400MHz+ dual core
1024MB RAM, maybe pushing toward 1.5GB
Rear Camera: 8MP+, Autofocus, Zoom, 1080p HD
    Front Camera: 2MP+
    Voice Control

    2012 Trends Will Be:
Bigger displays, same size phones: CES 2012 will be all about the 4.5" edge-to-edge displays like Samsung, LG, and Sharp are sampling. The phones will be no bigger as the bezel shrinks.

720p Displays: (1260x720) smartphone displays. LG will do it first. (LG makes Retina.)

NFC and USB OTG standard on even free phones.

Death of LCD's at high end: LED are brighter and use less power. LCD requires a light sources and then an LCD to filter (block the light). LCD black takes the same power as LCD White. LED black takes almost no power.

microSD: 64GB will be common, 128GB will be next

Single models across US carriers: Today every carrier demands their own model names (Fascinate, Mesmerize, Captivate). As OEM's take power, US carrier models will have the same model names.

2GHz+ dual core or 1.4GHz quad

2GB RAM: Bigger apps, bigger games, more graphics

    10-12MP Rear Camera

    5MP Front Camera

Apps: Apples and Android will be pushing 1 million apps each. No one will be making money except a few based on the content they provide: NetFlix, HBO, Hulu, etc.

Shorter Life Cycles: Samsung has promised investors 6 months between next generations. HTC and LG are almost there too. EOL (End of Life) now at 9 months will shrink to 6 months.

I would like a non-slider Pre3 with physical keyboard: basically, a Pixi with Pre3's 480x800 resolution and more powerful processor and RAM.

I really like my Pre Plus, but I don't like having to move the slider before I can type. I might settle for a virtual keyboard if Stingray has everything else I want.

    1. Two form factors...slate...and slider.
    2. Superamoled plus screens/hi res
    3. Notification light
    4. Silent switch
    5. WP7 software keyboard
    6. Google maps...that work
    7. Cloud storage
    8. Processor doesn't matter as long as the OS doesn't lag.
    9. Battery life/bigger battery.
    10. Touchstone
    11. Apps
  10. #50
    - iphone 4 sized screen, no need for a bigger one, i want a phone not a mini-tablet
    - well known apps like whatsapp and skype finally on webOS
    - i dont care about the processor numbers, as long as it can provide a lagfree running of all programs
    - at least 1GB RAM
    - 4+ days of pure standby time (just turned on, without usage, no traffic) with 3g/4g turned on
    - gesture area
    - no slider
    - a really good autofocus camera with flash, 5MP at least, either optical zoom or no zoom at all
    - 64GB internal storage
    - free pacifiers for the sprint crybabies
  11. #51
Samsung Fascinate like phone with Webos 3.0.

    slab phone
    4" Display Super AMOLED
    microsd card slot
    free NAV package like Android

    me too.

i would love a slate the size of the evo
no slide out keyboard (keep it thin)
front and rear cam 3 and 8 Mp (quality megapixel though not just to say its there)
    selectable autofocus
    hdmi out
    usb out
    vibrate slider
icon unlock screen for shortcuts to app
    Super AMOLED display
    NFC
    major developer support
    webOs 3
    3x the battery life
    cloud support
launcher with black glass background instead of that horrible gray thing they have going on
active desktop (like android but a single screen)
exhibition type features on the lock screen

and we can call it the HP PreMier as the first in a line of decent hardware sporting the best OS out.

now i'm upset because i feel like hp should be announcing it this week.

    I want:

form factor similar to Pre, maybe slightly larger if it means a much better screen.
    Less bezel.
    retina display.
Battery life that could go through a weekend with minimal use and no recharge. (I don't care about the actual mAh number so long as it would last a weekend....)
    NFC rather than proprietary semi-equivalent.
hardware that doesn't crack or break easily.
    noise cancellation microphones.
LED flash moved away from the camera lens (reduce red-eye a tiny bit).
AF camera that can actually do close-up ("Macro").
CDMA+GSM world phone (so I could switch providers without switching phones or travel internationally).
    Louder speakerphone/ringer.

And a couple of software/service fixes:
Real backup/restore of the whole device without third-party software and hacks/patches
Date picker widget that looks like a month calendar.
Better sync support for music/photos (Third-party solutions just don't work as well as the old iTunes did, but I had to upgrade that eventually)

    Things I don't care about:
Processor speed spec (so long as it's "plenty fast enough")
RAM spec (so long as it's "enough")

    Pentaband 4G world phone
Power-stepped multicore processor (thinking Intel tri-gate)
    latest broadcomm gpu
    WebOS 3.0
Nokia N8 quality camera with optical zoom
    Microvision 30 lumen projector (eg 2 15's)
    Swype
    Thinner Pre 3 design
    Screen orientation lock
    3.7 inch screen
SOLED or better phone that can be used in a low power mode
    18 hours of use
    30 days of standby
  16. #56
I like the pre 3 but I love webos so much that I would also like a slab phone too.
    Hardware,and Specs
    -------------------------
1.Pre 3 form factor and Build.
    2.Super AMOLED
    3.1080p HD Video
    4.HDMI Out(1080p)
5.Gyroscope(love the possibilties and games with this)
6.Same screen size as the pre 3.
    7.32gb internal storage.
    8.NFC(peer to peer)
9.Much longer battery then the pre 3
    10.3-12x camera zoom
    11.Animated wallpapers.
12.Gorilla Glass with anti smudge or finger print coating.
13.Better rear and front facing cameras then the pre 3.
Maybe more but can't thin of any right now.

    Apps.
    --------------
    1.Better phone app
    2.Better google maps all around.
3.I don't think I need 300.000 apps because I don't have $300,000 dollars to spend and if I did it would'nt be on apps.So I'll just say the main ones.

Anything else I forgot I'll add later.

    Either of these two:

(sorry, I am in the final rounds of beta testing of a 3D modelling program over the past few days, and I needed to render something with a high polygon count, so, this was it, and this thread was just toooooo coincidental!)

I was just wondering if the Pre3 wouldn't have been a better phone (or rather, less awkward to hold) if it was a horizontal slider instead. Otherwise, the specs are fine!

Nice render! I love the glass material, and smoothness of the curves. Not bad at all. I play around with ARtlantis and Maxwell myself - mostly architectural though.
