Yes, they sell, but they don't seem to sell as well as other options.

The US is where it's at, really.

So, as great as it may be in other countries, not here.

Then go ahead and launch a slate and landscape slider, but for love of god don't touch my vertical slider.

Yeah, it's completely different and you cannot compare them with HP.

But, with that being said, I bet it wouldn't sell as much as the original iphone

But HP needs the interest of everyone...not just a very small niche market.

    How does that work?

And Garrett92C: please start anywhere. Everywhere, if you like.
But will they buy it...buying and liking is two different things...they like the original Pre but they didn't buy it.

Well, you have to like something enough to buy it. You don't buy something that you don't like, do you?

They liked the original Pre until reports of it breaking every other week were running rampant, and then it just kind of receded.

    Wow this thread got busy.

Even if you fix up the problems, at the end its still a niche form factor that would probably look ok among a portfolio of phones.

But for a reboot..a relaunch, whatever, HP needs one flagship phone to spark things. That would be a slab.

An obvious reason (other than slabs are ruling the marketplace) is that its closest to the HP Touchpad. And we all know HP is going to support and promote the heck out of their tablet. You'd think HP would want some consistency along its webOS line.

Pre's have gesture areas. The tablet won't. Different functions, such as copy n paste make use of a physical kb such as holding a key down. The tablet won't. Make a slab phone that performs more like the Touchpad. Consistency is part of ease of use.

I don't believe it's a niche what so ever because 4 smartphones failed

    And that's your opinion.

But you have no proof to back up the idea that it's NOT a niche group.

The majority of smartphone users are slab and landscape sliders.
Thus portrait sliders ARE a niche in the market.

woooooow and you have proof to support yours last I checked blackberry was still on top which would also make slabs a niche group and also you might as well consider smartphones a niche since dumbphones still hold a majority of the cell phone market hey apple might as well be niche to because micrsoft own most of the the computer market also 4-door sedans sells more then trucks so trucks are also a niche market woooooot for niches!
