Tagged picture don't show in player

I am using WMP 11 to pump MP3s into my Pre.
Now I encountered a problem with one and only one album. All the MP3s of this one album show blank square in the player. I noticed these files were tagged with GIF-pictures. All other MP3s have JPEGs.
Obviously, I thought GIF must be the reason, so I deleted the files from Pre, retagged the originals in WMP with new JPEG picture and made a sync into Pre. Alas, still blank squares only in the player.
Any suggestions, please?
iTunes still out of order?

After resetting Pre, the picture I was telling about is now visible in player's listings.
I haven't tested if the GIF picture would still show up as a blank square with webOS 1.3.1.

There has been no problems since. WMP 11 works fine for me with Pre.
