Default VLC Remote - Cannot connect, cannot set http interface, only oldhttp

Hi there,

I'm using paid version of VLC Remote and trying to get it working on windows 7 but not having much luck. The best result I've had is getting the remote to see the computer but with no cone.

I've been through all the troubleshooting pages, turned off firewalls, checked for port clashes and no luck.

Then I go to localhost:8080 on my computer with vlc running I just get a continuous unresolved connection. Only when I exit vlc does this page timeout however.

When trying to setup vlc interface if i check http the text field below automatically displays oldhttp. If I change this to just http the setting is never saved when I exit. I'm running the latest version of VLC and have just done a fresh download and install.

Any ideas?

hi,

oldhttp is fine - vlc has been flirting with switching to another http system oldHtp differentiates between the old system and the new (still buggy) one.

clearly something isn't working though. My guess is that something else is running on port 8080. Can you try using a different port?

VLC http not working locally - Hobbyist Software

(also worth checking that you have the latest version of VLC)

Don't do the web pairing thing. If you have a router it fills in your service provided IP address not the IP address of your router. Hit setup vlc for you phone on the vlc setup helper. Then just enter details manually on your phone with the "192.168.1.?" for each computer you want to control vlc media player on. I was getting the 2 green checks, but my phone would not connect. that fixed the problem.
