I have a number of .tmp files (type streaming) in the RAM with this ID. Is it safe to delete these?

ROM has a file called MMSTransport with this ID. Application->Info shows files like HsTraceDatabase, HsDataMgr and many files starting with Hs*

So, what are these files. I wish there was a web site listing all the usual (and unusual) files on Treo's...

    Could 'Hs' stand for HotSync?
There is also a program called HandyShopper which has some filenames which begin with "HS", but creator seems to be '2Shp'.

From looking at the type of files and the apps with which they're associated, I've always assumed that the HS (and Hs) prefix stood for "Handspring"; they're all associated with built in functions.

The HsTT creator ids all seem to have to do with messaging; the one app in the group is the ROM-based MMSTransport. My assumption is that if any of the tmpfl**.tmp files is good to keep, it's the one that has at least 1 record.

    <edit>
Although, upon further investigation, I'd say that none of the tmpfl**.tmp files are really necessary...none has it's backup bit set, and I've never experienced problems with my Treo after restoring via Hotsync.

The tmp files don't add up to much in size.. so I'm not touching them. The funny thing is that HsTraceDatabase, HsSysResource68K and HsTraceDatabaseHead show up in the Applications->Delete list.

I bet it's safe to delete these (maybe lose the MMS/SMS data) but I'm not taking any chances ..

There's some neat information in the HsTraceDatabase file: it seems to be a history log of resets:
    Reset: 09/15/05, 4:34 pm (appl / BLZ5) Fatal Exception
    Reset: 09/15/05, 4:36 pm (appl / lnch), Memory Mgr. c, Line 3739, Non-word-aligned handle
    .
    .
    .

That's just 2 records...I've got 18 in that file at this point.

How do you view the pdb files? Resco Explorer? FileZ?

I can't see the contents as neatly as you have it posted ..

I use FileZ: select the file, menu>Item>Edit, tap View for each record.

That shows the Hex stuff on the left and some text on the right side. Did you laboriously type the text from that screen into your post #6?

Anyway, why does the OS keep track of resets? Someone should write an app to make this accessible. I used to use CrashPro but stopped after a while. It was failing to trap most resets ...

It wasn't really "laborious", but, yes.
