retrieve deleted sms???

i search the forums and found no answer. i deleted a message that i ment to keep, forgot purge was set to all and got button happy and deleted everything. is there a way to get back messages (sms) maybe from sprint? i didnt hotsync that day so the message isnt in my backup folder. i doubt this can be done but i thought i would ask anyway.

If you get hold of a smartcard adapter for your sim card there's a freeware command line program undeletesms that will recover your message.

Touched though I am by your assumption of my omniscience, I have to say I know of no way for you to restore your lost messages. From what I can tell, Sprint doesn't keep copies of sent messages.

The big lesson here is to start using a backup-to-card app that allows you to keep multiple periodic backups on hand (I use BackupBuddyVFS, myself). If HotSync is your only method for backing up (and you don't periodically make a copy of the backup directory), you'll occasionally find yourself without any way to restore a beloved file.

Yes it can. If you Hotsynch'd before you deleted the message you can go into your user\backup folder & double click on "Messages_Database.pdb" to restore your previous SMS & MMS folders and messages. Of course anything since the hotsync will not be there.

I have done this & also with the call log "PhoneCallDB.pdb" to restore after deleting the wrong thing while trying to reconcile my phone bill. In fact the call log has got to be a great example of how not to do programming. Not only is there dumb options on the Purge menu item like the absense of "Delete prior to Date" bringing up a date picklist. Which forces me to delete call log items one by one, but also the Delete items is one of the only ones without a menu shortcut key - heaps of taps. You can see why I have restored before...
