Im not sure what bong noiseis either but I second ( Prefs -> Sound -> General -> System Volume -> Off ) to turn off anoying noises.

If you just want to change the noises Megalauncher will let you change all the system noises and I think Zlauncher will let you do the same now also. Except for the radio start and stop, I guess you have to just turn off system sound for that. But you could turn off system sound and then use a launcher to replace other sounds if you didnt want all system sounds off.

Occasionally, my screen lights up and "Boing!" appears. Does anyone know how to get rid of that?

If somebody said a car alarm keeps going off outside their house, would you suggest wearing earplugs 24/7? The guy just wants to know if he can turn that one particular sound off. It seems at the moment you can't.

I'd like to get rid of the annoying jingle when you turn the phone on/off without getting rid of any other sounds.

I too would like to get rid of that sound. Can we use Shadowmites ROM extractor then delete or replace the sound?

    We've had this discussion already

Remember: "Anyone that thinks the Treo should just work right out of the box, shouldn't own a Treo..."

The problem with that option is not only does it get rid of system sounds & bongs!, it also mutes alarms from Tasks. Also mutes standard alarms from NotePad, VoiceMemo (which I have loaded on the T650), DataShield & probably any app that uses standard alarms...

Use ProfileCare if you want detailed control of the various sounds.

I use Datebk5 to handle alarms, so I get sounds from Tasks and Calendar.

Not on my machine. The only app on my T650 whose alarms this setting seems to affect is SnapperMail, and I use Butler's Attention Grabber to make up for that shortcoming...on second thought, I can't really speak to its affect on the standard Task app alarms, because I let DateBk5 handle those.

The system sound dose not mute sounds or alarms from any of my applications. If you go into each application in the menu>options>preferences (usually) you will find an option "use system sounds" or something to that effect. If you uncheck the box the application will not be controlled by the system sound setting.

Also, why is the startup/power-up sound effect so loud? The power-down sound effect is also equally loud and annoying. Any help changing this one would be much appreciated also.

    Thanks.
In a pitcher, add 2 parts vodka, 1 part vermouth, your Treo, ice, and then stir. Serve in chilled martini glasses.

TechSounds and KoolSounds allow you to change the bong noise too.
