I am new to the Palm OS as well as the Treo, so...

I would like to store audio files on my SD card under the audio directory.
Each folder would hold an albums worth of songs...

When I transfer files to my Treo 650, windows media player and/or hot sync both put them in the audio directory under file name (wmp formats filenames differently, but is customizable)

Anyway, I'd like to have more control of the way files are stored. I've tried doing this with filez, but it can't be done or I don't know how to do it (more likely).

I'm open to suggestions as well as software recommendations.

    Thanks,
    Steven

I have never tried this, but here is an idea:

With Filez, select the audio directory on the sd card, press the menu button, select create folder, create the new folder, and then move the songs you wish to that folder. Before you get too far, test to see if your music software can still "find" the songs in that new audio subfolder.

If this doesn't work -- use a card reader and Windows Explorer.

    Cheers, Perry.

    Perry,
Thanks, filez insists on creating another new directory, but will not create it as a subdirectory under AUDIO...
As to option 2, when connected with the hotsync cable, why can't internet explorer read "removeable disk f:"?
    Thanks again for your help.

    Just tried this:

    FileZ
Main screen where it says internal or sd card
    select sd card
    hit menu
    create directory
    select audio
at the very top of the screen -- on that line -- type in the subfolder name. . . .

    Yes?

Not sure why Windows Explorer will not read the card while it is inserted in the Treo -- does fine on my SanDisk 8n1 card reader.

    Here's what mine looks like:

    FileZ
Main screen where it says internal or External Card
    select External Card
    hit menu
create Folder ("Choose Folder" window pops up)
choice of Internal or External Card (blank line at top for name - anything I type here will create a new top level directory on the External Card)
select audio (I never see this...)

tap the external folder now and you should get a drop down list, then select audio and type the subfolder on that top line(blank line at top for name - anything I type here will create a new top level directory on the External Card)
select audio (I never see this...)
    Yes?

    Perry,
Yes, 6.7 - but no drop down list with the audio folder...
Not sure where to go from here.

Do you get any drop down list? The little triangle should fill in black if you have "selected" correctly.

    Isn't communication wonderful?

I know it's there, we are just not quite there.

At the point we want to get the drop down menu -- select external, the triangle should go black, now tap the triangle for the drop down!!

    Yes!!!!!!!!!!??

    =============
yes, the triangle turns black, but no dropdown.
I guess I'll jump over to the filez homepage and look around for help.
    thanks for taking the time.

Did you see my "now tap" the triangle ???
  14.    #14
    Aaaaaaaaaaaargh

I just realized what I was NOT doing - tapping the TRIANGLE.
I use the Krusell soft case which makes precise tapping, especially close to the edges, almost impossible.
Got it now, thanks for your patience.

I've been transferring over my files via Windows Media Player and Pocket Tunes. I don't know how/where they end up on the card, but Pocket Tunes lets me view my files by, "All Content" (which is alphabetical by filename), "Artist", "Genre", and "Playlists". It works great, as long as the songs are properly tagged before being synced to the Treo.
    Palm V-->Visor Deluxe-->Visor Prism-->Visorphone-->Treo 180-->Treo 600-->Treo 650 on Sprint-->Treo 700p-->Centro-->Diamond-->Pre-->HTC EVO 4g???!

    Perry,
Since you've been so helpful so far, allow me to ask another general question.
The scroll bars on any multiple screen list do not seem to work.
Holding the down arrow is slow and clumsy.
Not to mention that I'd like to center the item in the middle of the screen sometimes.
    What am I doing wrong?

Does this happen when the Treo is out of the Krusell case?

Any specific program or anywhere you end up with a scroll bar?

You do realize we are now off topic . . . .
  19.    #19
Happens out of the case as well.
If I attempt to click on the scroll bar, the item next to it in the list will be selected, the scrollbar will not move.
    Happens in any app.

    Have you done a re-digitization?

    System, Prefs, Touchscreen.

If that doesn't help, try a soft reset.
