Your Treo Gets Wet. Via a pool, glass of beer, god forbid a toilet, fix it now.

I don't gurantee this will work for everyone, but it's worked in the past on multiple phones. Now this may be hard for someone with a unreplaceable battery, but still may work.

    1. Treo Gets Wet - Do not power on, do not fiddle with
    2. Immediately Place in tupper ware container, and no do not microwave it
    3. Find a pack of Silca Gel. Those little white bags that you get with new coats, suits, pants, and electronics.
    4. Place the silca gel pack in the tupper ware container and the handset.
    5. Seal shut and do not open for atleast 24 hrs.

The silca gel pack will try to absorb the moisture inside the tupperware container. Taking all the water out of your dear old treo. Now don't power it on because any power through the board may short and ruin things inside. The number one reason phones die when they go in water, is people trying to turn them back on, and leaving moisture inside the phone which will corrude and oxidize all over the board.

Hopefully this never happens to your treo....but if it does, try it, it's worked before for many people.

That's a very good idea. I hope my phone doesn't get wet, but I will try it if it does.

Another thing to do is take off the battery before you stick it in the tupperware.

Where do you find one of those Silca Gel Packs? I'm going to try this with one of my old phones that I have laying around doing nothing.

Treo, LOL, this is a fix it NOW solution. If you have phones that have been lying around, do you really think there is any moisture in them that hasnt dried up in all this time? LOL

I thought the same thing. Then I remembered that he probably has at least a limited supply of water somewhere.

I know you're joking, right? I hope you couldn't be that silly, could you?

I planned on taking one of my old phones that I no longer use and drop it in a bowl of water to see if this really works. If so, I would post it (for people like you) to know if this is a solution that really works or not. I know just from this site alone that 'Wet Phones' are accidents that happen from time to time. So, if this accidentally happens, this procedure would keep some from thinking there phone is finished.

So, being that I know you were just being witty, I'll laugh along with you (and you too sxtg)!

I have a better solution, before your treo "gets" wet buy replacement insurance for $4 per month.

From reviewing these posts it looks like 2 Mb is largest card and that the x60 Ultra format works well with the 650.

Is this correct? And where is the best deal?

Funny ... i wish I had read this two weeks ago.... driving home from a long day, looked down and my phone was in a **full** coffee cup... made me glad i hadn't gotten the new treo yet, and made me think seriously about insurance....

since it was a phone I've despised since the day I picked it up, thought it was rather funny. sadly, it still mostly works...
    got art?

You guys, I can't express enough the importance of insurance. if you get the insurance it say they don't cover water damage. Whatever! just make the claim that it was lost. it has saved my treo twice in the last year.

In case you didn't know, thats called insurance fraud which is a CRIME. I hope you haven't told too many people about this since it looks like you are publicly admitting you have committed a crime, twice!

If you have Cingular, you can't get insurance on a Treo...which I am very unhappy about.

Well no wonder! Cingular believes that too many people abuse the system to make it worth the expense! And from what we see here, they may be right.

I have a digicam that I keep in an Altoids box. A water bottle leaked into it and it was toast... for about 2 months. Eventually, the camera just started working again and it takes pictures just as well as new.

Funny this has happend not once but twice with me in the past year. Both by my 2yr old son. However, I was not lucky enough for it to be just good ol' H2O. No the 1st time was in a glass of lemonade and the 2nd a glass of pepsi. Both very acidic, the phones had no chance of revival. Needless to say I will not be leaving another within his grasp!!

P.S.- while I was very upset about the shock of losing it, you had to see his face right after he dropped them...It was kinda like this Cute as hell, couldn't be angry at him after that!!

I had a Sony Clie that took a swim in a (fortunately clean) toilet. We all need to occasionaly check our belt clips for wear. I took it apart and blew the excess water out with one of those cans of "air". The screen was water-logged, so I put it near a light bulb for several hours. It worked fine after that except the charging light was always on. After a while, even that fixed itself. I think the key is clean water and not turning it on. I read an artcle by a guy who emptied a can of mountain dew into his laptop keyboard two seperate times. Each time he pulled the battery and followed the mountain dew with a lot of distilled water. This washed the sugar and crud away. Then he dried it thouroughly. It worked fine after both occasions. By the way, I gave the Clie to a friend who still uses it without any problems.
