    fyi --

vegas's open container law applies to pedestrians not vehicles. i.e. you can walk up and down the strip with an open beer you can not have one in your car.

nah.. One guy said it was exactly what he was thinking, and another said he was completely flabbergasted by the original post. My use of the edited F word was required to demonstrate my flabbergastation. It was totally necessary..

Joebar already censored his own comment, I don't think there's a need for the mods to censor it any further. That's a bit extreme and pointless in itself.

If you're looking to save money on getting a new Treo, as the original poster was trying to do, it's probably not a good idea to trade buying a new Treo to replace the one you beered with paying the deductible on your homeowner's insurance. Swapping a new Treo for your $500 or more homeowner's deductible (and then watching your rates increase since you filed a claim for a wet phone), probably isn't the advice they were looking for.

I have computer coverage on my homeowners insurance (USAA), mostly to cover my son's laptop at school. I broke the screen on my 650 by dropping it. USAA covered my Treo, with a $100 deductible. I think the cost to my insurance is $16/year for the computer coverage.

Again, for that, they could've bought the $5/month insurance/extended warranty and paid the $50 deductible for a new phone.

And not worried about their rates being jacked up for filing a claim.

Gotta admit this gave me the biggest chuckle of my day, by far

C'mon, you know you want to. Okay, we can start slow. [Slides Al Green CD into player]. It's hot in here, let's just loosen up that 'P' key a little. There, isn't that better? You're so pretty. That dial delay was cute foreplay, but let's get to it. You know I want some bluetooth, baby. Talk to all my devices at close range. Gimme all the handsfree and headset profiles, ooh, that's nice. Now let's hotsync with no soft resets, there we go. Talk to me, let hear some sweet sound quality on the other end, okay? All the other smartphones are doing it. Here, have some more beer. What's with the frantic flashing LED, baby, where's the fire? No need to worry, you're safe with me. Let's forget about the past, no memory problems between us.... I don't know, this has never happened to me before. I just need a hard reset, that's all. What, you're seeing someone else? Tell me who it is. Shadowmite!?!

Sounds like she had a beer or two....or three! when she waived the insurance on a $600 piece of mobile equipment!

You can try taking it in to the Sprint Store and acting like you are completely dumbfounded as to why the thing stopped working and hope some ***** tech replaces it with a refurb. Urban legend has it that they have some sort of test to determine whether its been in liquid, thereby, voiding the warranty, but it sure is worth a try.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope the darn thing doesn't start croaking....Bud...Weis....ER!

I got the solution -- Heat00 who is apparently wealthy enough to not worry about $600 (and let us all know this), will send the beer dunking treo chick a new Treo 650!!

(in exchange for some nudie pics that will be posted on treopr0n.com)

I think the important detail that is being overlooked here is what type of beer was it? If it was Coors Lite or Miller Lite you can just do a search on "Water Damage" and find some threads offering suggestions on fixing it.

What I want to know is, if she finished the beer after fishing the Treo out!

Dude, someone driving around with a large lid-less open *cup* of beer in their car is surely swilling on something more along the lines of Milwaukee's Best or Meister Brau.

Brand new, less than a month old...no insurance, of course.

So it dropped right into a pan with some water in it. The Treo was actually under water for a split second, and it's not working so well. Initially, everything was working, but not surprisingly, things started going a bit wonky. We turned it off and dried it as best we could with the cool setting on a hair dryer. The backlight was working last night but is not working tonight. The touch screen works some of the time but not all of the time. There is also some water underneath the screen. Sometimes the keys are not working, but sometimes they work after a soft reset.

Any ideas for fixing it any further? I'm not really expecting much at this point.

Does anyone also have an idea how I might be able to work with Sprint to get a replacement of some kind without paying for a whole other phone? Also, does anyone think it would be of use to have Palm try and repair it?

    Thanks. (Sigh.)
