Can't say I see it as a positive when folks with negative music associte themselves with the Treo.

Bill Cosby is right. And Nelly does nothing to help.

That is why the ladies of Spelman College turned him away!

I've read several, which is why I realize acceptance of garbage is what corrodes society. It is Nelly who needs to read a book and learn some respect for women! At least someone like Cosby is man enough to point it out.

GeekyMom - Hampton and Spelman are cool, but they don't have a thing on my Morgan State .

I'm just glad those book reading sistas at Spelman told Nelly where he can stick his Treo and his music .

Don't forget about that thing on your radio and your tv that allows you to change the channel when something doesn't come on that you don't like. It's called free speech lady. You don't have to like it but to say it's corroding society is a but much. I can think of a few things much worse. How much of the makeup you wear has been tested on animals?

LOL. How does makep that is or isnt tested on animals have anything to do with corroding society?

Pornography is protected under free speech as are racial and ethnic slurs (not that the liberals would let you know that) but does that make them good for society? I would think not. Bill Cosby had it right. Hip Hop is not a culture. It's an excuse to be stupid and avoid being a productive member of society. If there is some redeeming value in the message of violence and hatred it portrays I'd like you to explain it please.

Darnell, I agree with you 100%. Corrision of society, corrision of personal and family values. The inability to accept responsibility for personal situations and goals. It is all about letting someone else do the work, place the blame on someone else - entitlements. It is time for people to take responsibility. As for treatment of women, total disrespect and that was shown by 8 years of Clinton. He did it becuase he could...

whoa...whoa easy there - generalizations dont help out any. It is truly sad that MTV and BET have DEFINED for most of mainstream America what "hip hop" is - music videos, half naked women dancing in the background, the same old cliche. Well i got news for you thats not all hip hop is - its just that, a cliche that sells records and moves brand name merchandise. What you see is the ultimate exploitation of a culture that came from the likes of the sugahill gang, break dancing etc. I remember (faintly the first time a hip hop video aired on MTV - WOW!

dont base your opinions on everything you see on tv. Dont worry, after all the moneys been made, they'll leave hip hop alone and move unto something else....then you can complain about that. You never know - polka might be the next big thing

hall316 if this was directed towards me, you need to know I'M A MAN BABY!!!

I love how some cry "freedom of speech" for such trash, but want to silence the voices that speak against trash!!! Yes they have the freedom to spew garbage. However such garbage should not be spewed on free TV/radio airwaves. Cable (MTV, BET, etc.) are paid for so it's a different story. None the less, it is garbage and should not be looked upon as anything more than the trash that it is. And I will fully express my "freedom of speech" to call out the trash when I see it!

hall316 - Would you like to see Janet Jackson "pop a boob" every Superbowl?

Not all Hip Hop is garbage, but the art form is being abused by far too many to express nothing but garbage. And it is very true that now the trash rules and very much overshadows any good from more positive artists such as KRS-One.

And all the junk about testing on animals . The trash spewed by folks like Nelly inspires children to treat women like trash and yes, EVEN RAPE THEM! I think that has a far more negative impact than testing on an animal. Think of people first for a change! Nelly's music has the same impact for criminals as William Pierce's The Turner Diaries had for Timothy McVeigh!

Just another guy that takes a quote out of contect. if you had read the rest of the book, not just the sound bytes on FOX you would have also seen the Former Pres. Clinton also acknowledged self destructive behaviour. IMHO lying about cheating on your wife where no one other than your family is hurt is a HELL OF A LOT BETTER than lying to your country and sending young men and women off to die in IRAQ!.

Where are the WMDs Mr. President? Where are the links to Al Quida? If opium were legal and oil illegal we would have more troop in Afganistan and none in Iraq.

If The Bush Administration Lied About WMD, So Did These People

"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, Oct 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002
"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998
And Mr. Kerry is still telling lies.

grrr WTF happened to my thread... and it turned into a political debate and a music is evil blah blah blah blah debate. you guys = teh suck.

and as far as music effecting kids and stuff... thats a copout for bad parenting and lack of teaching of morals... parents need to be held responsible for crimes kids commit and after that, its their own fault... music doesnt have anything to do with anything.

I hope this gets closed out. Thank you for whoring my innocent thread about a treo in a music video.
