According to the Wall Street Journal, Cingular will phase out the ATT&T name. So the company with a name that is barely 4 years old would turn up its nose at a 118-year-old brand!
    Any thoughts?

Cingular just bought the cellular portion. AT&T is still in the land line bussiness. I never really associated AT&T w/ cellular.I thiught AT&T was a small fish in the Verizon, Cingular, Sprint and T-Mobile arena. But that's just me....

I'm sure if Cingular thought that they had a snowball's chance in hell of keeping the AT&T brand, they would dump that orange thingy in a heartbeat.

They do have a chance, but they are choosing not to keep the name. Many analysts (according to the WSJ) are puzzled by it.
