Help me understand what maybe basic to most of you, please.

How come most phones are released for one carrier, making it hard to get them, if you don't want to switch????

Now I know the obvious, business reason,,,,,but the Treo 600 crossed that line!

Will the Motorola MPX300 be available for all??

The samsung i500 (I think thats right. I mean the pda palm based phone) , for example is not available for folks who have cingular.

Palm/Handspring next Treo. That Treo will be the true Treo 600 killer.

It's in the future. Read PalmOne web page and discussions.

    W.r.t. TREO-killer phones...

The 3GSM World Congress is this week - there undoubtedly will be plenty of new interesting smartphones introduced there by all the attendees/exhibitors.

(PalmOne is not an overt exhibitor last time I checked though they may have a presence in the Orange booth)

Right on Dan..it doesn't matter how good something is if it's so big that I always leave it home. The Treo fits in my shirt pocket. It's always with me and does everything. When it gets to the point where I feel like something is too big for that, I may as well bring a notebook, not a PDA.

I won't claim to understand the technology myself, but I know some knowledgeable folks who think 3g is a crock--a technology that has little usefulness, that has already encountered problems where it has been unveiled, that lacks a "killer app
If it doesn't have a slot for SDHC--I don't want it. Period.

Another new Palm smartphone at 3GSM

Maker GSPDA is bringing the Xplore G88 to the rest of the world after its predecessor - the G18 - met with an enthusiastic reception in Asia.

The G88 is based on Palm OS 4.1.2 and in Europe will include a dual band 900/1800 GSM radio. It has a 320 x 240 digital camera and a 2.2in 65k colour screen.

The phone offers SMS, MMS, WAP, email and a Java environment and includes 16MB of RAM and ROM as well as 22MB of Flash memory in an internal card.

The slide design reveals a numeric keypad and there is also a 5-way jog dial for navigation.

It looks like that the mpx300 is even stonger product than I thought. It even has a 1.3 meg camera in addition to BT and Wifi. It'll be available around mid year. It will be the guy to beat among all the smart phone offerings. The only downside is it is not a CDMA phone.

Mpx is a far more advance device compared to treo600.

treo600 will soon compete against mpx100, not mpx300.

OK fine. When the next gen treo 600 is released you can talk. The MPx300 is a next gen is it not? And is it even out on the market yet?

Looks like a cheap imitation of the Treo 600. No thanks!
