Has anyone figured out how to assign a numeric hot key to a favorite? Like voice mail is assigned to the number 1

I would like assign other numbers to other favorites and it seems to not like that.. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

Well, after I posted this I thought to myself that it is no different to assign it to a number key or to the letter that is on that number, so that's what I did. I couldn't use 2 so I used the letter R

    Really the same thing..

    Thanks

    I had to succumb to the 'y' is 9, 'c' is 8, ...

That was the best I could do...

I did a search and found this thread because I'm having the same problem assigning a number to a favorite.

It seems really strange to me that this is not allowed. Just wondering if anyone has found the secret yet (other than the letter-number mapping workaround).
