I want to have two Palms but I want my same phone and schedule and memos and todos in both.

One Palm will be the Garmin 3600 and the other the Treo 600. Both Palm OS 5.

    How can I do it?

That's a heck of a good question, and I'm mostly posting a reply in hopes that someone else knows the answer.

Personally, I've never done this, but the first thing I would try is to set up the two devices with different user IDs, and copy the datebook and address databases across to the other directory using DOS.

The Treos come with software to sync up with Outlook to copy contacts, todo lists, etc. I would assume the other Palm you want can do the same. In the preferences for your syncing, you can choose if the Palm will overwrite the data on Outlook or vice-versa. I would say anytime you update in the info in one Palm, sync with Outlook and overwrite it so Outlook is updated, then change the prefs so Outlook will overwrite the second Palm when you sync that one. Also, the Treo has IR so it can "beam" info to other Treos, I'm not sure about other Palm devices though. If it can, that would definitely be the fastest way.

How about using the same user name on both palms?

I have no idea. I've only had one Palm at a time with the same username. I don't see why there would be a problem but you never know. I would just give it a shot one of the ways I suggested and see if it works.

all i can add is that i have the same treo sync'd to 3 different PC's and have had no problem... i think if you use the same name you should be fine.
Change is a challenge to the adventurous, an opportunity to the alert, a threat to the insecure.

You have a few options here. One is to use the same user name as ToolKit mentioned. But as you indicated you only want to share the adress book, memo pad and todo list. Thus, I infer you want add different software to the iQue and Treo 600 otherwise?! In this case, sharing the same username would not work. I would recommend you use an app like SyncUS which allows you to share a calendar/address/todo/memo items that are different on 2 handhelds. Another option would be to use a web based soluton like Time & Chaos or Notwired..

Finally, one other work-around would be to setup a common profile for both devices on the palm desktop. Profiles enable you to download data from the desktop application to a handheld during the first hotSync, and not have it associated with a specific user name. This makes it possible to preconfigure a number of handhelds with specific information (such as a company calendar) before you distribute them to users. I have not personally tried this myself, but you may want to fiddle with it...

I am reading this thread with interest. Let's say I go ahead and get the new 600 (which I most definitely will) but kkeep my 300. I set up the new machine with the exact same username. I leave my desktop as is. Why cant I sync the 2 palm handhelds when I want just so I always have a second backup. I never have understood this part of the program.

Of course you can do this and you will share the same info between the two different devices. However, this is not what the inital poster indicated he/she wanted to do. I inferred the senario was to only share the phone, schedule, memos, and todos. For this situation, using an app like SyncUs seems like the best solution IMO...

sorry for the confusion. Reason I asked is that is warns you not to use 2 devices with the same username. I never could figure out why and now I realize that if you want the EXACT same data then all will be fine-at least that's how I interpret your post.

If you use the same user ID and standard hotsync, then you MUST plan on both units mirroring each other. If you go this route, make sure all conduit are set to sync and not to overwrite. Otherwise the handhelds will not contain the same data and will be deleting each other's backups.
