Nobody else seem to want to post. Is there already a Thread Like this, or a Doc I can download that list all Treo Software.

sorry if I repeat a previous Thread, "just tring to help out"
  3. #3
there are already a number of threads like this, not to mention the fact that what one considers 'indispensible' varies wildly with what you care about doing with your treo...

I searched this Group and found No Thread like this. Can you send me a Link?

All I wanted was a Thread that had a list of Treo users software, and a Description of it, so new User could see what is offered. Not to suggest what they should get, but so they can see what others have, and learn what is offered.

I was going to compile a List of software with Descriptions, Prices, a rating, and links.

I see alot of Post from new user "like myself" asking about a program to do a certain function. Instead they can Read this Post "Software you Cant live without" and find it on there.

This is a good Thread, but not what I was looking for "Read my first post"

Palm Gear has alot of app, but I want the one Most Commonlly used, by Treo owners.

Too much anger in this Group, I was just making a Suggestion, to help New Treo owners find the software they need.

    Good luck

actually, it seems i should not have told you to look around. i just went looking, and from what i can see, all threads more than a month or so old on the various discussion boards have been removed! wonder if that's something they did on purpose or they had a crash??

for instance, if you go to the 'discussion' page where it lists what forums you can view, it shows that the treo utility software has 216 threads (http://discussion.treocentral.com/tcforum/index.php?s=)

but when you actually click on the link to that forum, there are only 21 threads!! http://discussion.treocentral.com/tc...?s=&forumid=53

the 'general software' forum shows over 3000 threads but only 14 can be viewed.

so there is something else going on here.

    1. Snapper Mail
    2. StockManager
    3. WorldMate
    4. LauncherX
    5. Agendus
    6. Chatter (still in testing)
    7. Hum...I know I am forgetting something...oh well, later perhaps.

CoLauncher is the best piece of Treo Software out there that isn't routinely mentioned on these types of threads.

Please make a distinction between freeware and shareware. Some of the programs listed above as free are actually shareware: you can download and distribute them freely for testing, but if you use them you should pay for them. The author is trusting you to pay, and there is no usually enforcement should you decide not to, but please be fair to shareware authors by not telling new users that these programs are free. If you think a program is free, and find after downloading that someone expects to be paid, you are likely to feel tricked, and less likely to feel that payment is reasonable.

By the way, here's another list of favorites with links:

It never ceases to amaze me that someone asks for help or advice on a forum, then doesn't like the response, or lack thereof, and starts complaining.

Clarence, calling Aaron a "Loser" does not endear you to people who might otherwise want to share their software experiences with you.

I'm sorry for calling him a loser.
As for software help, there a lot of people who will offer me guidance instead of smart comments.

thanks cluemeister. i didn't really get why he thought i was being sarcastic anyway, i was just making an observation.

personally, my most useful piece of software is intellisync for yahoo, which lets me keep my calendar online and sync with my treo.

next would be splashID, part of the splashsuite. it keeps all my passwords and logins up to date on all my computers and my treo.

    megalauncher for launching

    Xmaster for hacks

    ClockPop - the best!

    KeyCaps Hack

Filez - so i have complete backups on all my computers

    TreoTools

    AIM

Pocketflash to check my aol mail, though since i bought that, aol for palm came out and i would probably buy that instead now.

    FastCPU

bejewelled-to keep me occupied, not bored, when i have to wait somewhere

then there is stuff i like a lot but could certainly live without. this is where i think opinions diverge a lot and why i said what i did, that everybody has a different idea on this stuff depending on what they do with their treo...

    TCRinger
    TreoPictureCallerID

and of course, Aaron's Ringtones for the Treo300 (sorry, couldn't resist!)

I love SilverScreen 2.9.9 for my Treo90! The WinXP theme rocks, even on the low-res screen. I saw Zlauncher and the KDE theme for it which looks amazing, but only on hi-res, the low-res version is too blocky for my taste. Anyone using Zlauncher? Like it? Any SilverScreenies out there?

What is a good program to load a full 12bit color background onto my Treo with? BackdropGC only supports 8bit color, which is really just, gross, IMO. Ideas? Something free? (I hope)

Did you try adjusting the selection at the bottom that asks how far back to search? That may very well be why you can't find any more than 21 threads.... or I could be wrong also. Just a hunch as I've had this problem on sites...

    Snappermail pricey
    Quick Office Premier pricey
    Datebook 5 not cheap

I also really like, but could live without:

Win-Hand trialware/pricey (I forget whether the non-secure version is freeware or trialware actually)
    Bejeweled ($14)
