It seems we are overloading HP servers with download as Open Source Packages - HP webOS open source compliance is working so slow. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

    It's not us.

It's been slow even before we started archiving... it appears that some page assets (not text, but likely Javascript or CSS files) are on a server that's accepting connections but not serving the material right away... so it's blocking the page from rendering on-screen

That whole website has been performing excruciatingly slow for months.

First there was an issue with the Doctors repository, which i've been able to provide a temporary fix for (63.80.4.201 or 195.22.200.42 for downloads.help.palm.com), which is now gone, since all links will redirect to a blank page at mynewpalm.com. Then it was the SDK + images, which was also down as they moved servers. At 23.4.17.24 cdn.downloads.palm.com, it's not dead yet as of this posting. But regular Novacom downloads have gone down with the ROMs.

Then HP + Facebook purged thousands of our pictures and updates off our pages, with no warning, recourse or means to download an archive. We are still battling them over it.

Then developer.palm.com has gone dark. It's currently live at 205.140.203.24, but there's no guarantees. It's time to drop everything and archive dev docs, developer forums (Viagra SPAM and all, we'll sort through it later), and the if you need Pattyland's app catalog Google search to work, you'll also need to add this to your hosts file.

Finally, the open source packages, which i've been assured are securely hosted by LG, are actually hosted at downloads.help.palm.com, which is now redirecting and will no longer be available to us. A gross violation of the GPL license, BTW.

Old PalmOS downloads: if Alan Morford hasn't archived them while the hosts fix still worked, they are gone for good and will have to be found through the grapevine, because i haven't had the time to back them up. I don't use PalmOS.

And finally some good news, so that everything i've said won't drive you to the edge of despair...
Thanks to the generosity of Archive.org (aka The Wayback Machine), a lot of this stuff it still available. I haven't been able to confirm how much, but it includes developer docs, developer forums (how much?), ROMs, and Open Source packages. I still have to verify that none of the files are missing or corrupted, that's today's work for me. But please donate to Archive.org. We will be wasting a lot of their bandwidth in the next month or so. I really urge you, because many Doctors are in excess of 200MB.

Anyhow, i will do my utmost to resume archiving stuff, will update my Doctors spreadsheet to reflect the changes. Will later put up a SDK and Open Source spreadsheet as well, as time allows. I've been overloaded with work and am in a deep hole mentally, but i've never stopped working on the replacement Cloud Services solution. Hope to see you there soon, as it comes together.

And a list of things we must archive:

    • ROMs (Doctors) :: i have all of them
    • SDK + images :: i have all images, and all HP-era SDKs, and a Win32 Palm-era SDK, will get others.
    • Dev IDE plugins
    • Online dev documentation :: Archive.org had some or all
    • Developer forums :: ditto, Archive.org had some
    • Tools like devicetool.jar
    • Novacom drivers :: downloading now from Archive.org
    • Open source packages :: ditto, Archive.org had some or all
    • "On-device" help :: mazzinia has most of it (no Sprint Pre-), i have very little
    • Ares Debugger :: i have it
    • Free "App Catalog" apps :: Herrie has all of them, i have some that survived a HDD issue, will verify and re-download the rest.
    • Paid apps, a coordinated effort :: i really must put up a database for all of us to x-ref
    • App Catalog metadata :: big thanks to Herrie, horzel and krotech for the old and new feeds. Herrie and i will get back to downloading comments/ratings and the remaining screenshot images

Hopefully i got everything. If i've missed something, tell me and i'll gladly update.
Thank you much very for the post. I have spent the day trying to download WEBOS Doctor version 3.0.5 for wireless only. I need to fix my Touchpad and I don't know where to go?

    Welcome

We are still waiting for the shutdown to complete before re-hosting the Doctors ourselves, but thanks to the generosity of Archive.org (The Wayback Machine), you can grab yourself a copy in the meantime.

According to my spreadsheet, the 3.0.5 WiFi doctor would be at this address: http://downloads.help.palm.com/webos...5hstnhwifi.jar

You should be able to right-click the link, copy and paste it into the search box at Archive.org

When you're done, you can use a utility to calculate the MD5 checksum, to verify the integrity of the downloaded file. The result should be 953a902b1fa931e640a0f29adc2d5477

    ps.qa.palm.com is down.
Does anybody have IP address of ps.qa.palm.com to put ps.qa.palm.com to hosts file
I would like to get all free IPKs from there if the server is still alive.

It may have been gone for too long to get anything back, but if you'll have time to dig, take a look:

    https://www.robtex.com/en/advisory/dns/com/palm/qa/
    https://www.robtex.com/en/advisory/dns/com/palm/qa/wss/
    https://www.robtex.com/ip/66.54.61.21.html

http://cdn.downloads.qa.palm.com redirects to http://cdn.downloads.qa.palm.com.edgekey.net/ and all downloads there seem to be either gone or at a different path...

    Edit:

And... may i ask what was on there? I'm guessing that ps.qa.palm.com was a "beta" Palm Profile server that had pre-release OTA updates, but what else did you find? I'm guessing it's irretrievably lost at this point if even Robotex doesn't have any record of it, but let's hope we didn't lose too much.

I'm gonna also dump some links here....

    https://dnshistory.org/subdomains/1/palm.com

    palm.com domain information - herdProtect

    downloads.help.palm.com domain information - herdProtect

And you know, what we can do is scan the whole Hewlet Packard IP range (see Robotex) and "try on" different domains on every server, and once in a blue moon, you may see something that was either a Profile server, or a CDN... if you use a European proxy to do this from a European IP, you may even avoid the mynewpalm.com redirect (if you're lucky)

If this is all-out "war" now with only a month until the lights go out, i don't see any problem with scanning their IP range...

    //////////////

And i'll make a good list of all palm.com sub-domains.... there's more of them than anyone is able to list in one place..

I can't imagine ache-pee releasing anything that would live up to the reputation of the Palm brand.

They had it. They had the OS that could have stood above android and iOS, and they gave it away.

Android will NEVER have the intuition and fluidity of webOS if it continue in direction of these candy versions. I just recently spent hours trying to remove lollipop, not just for the crashing it unleashed on my nexus, but because simple changes in the UI were steps BACKWARDS in my mind. Just turning on airplane mode involved additional gestures! Duh! They don't know what they are doing over there at all.

I suspect they will be trying to use the brand to sell something crappy in a non US market, like India. We'll see.

I would use it to make a new Veer. Something tiny in your hand, but also mounts to a wristband and is wearable. And it would run webOS 4.0!
Sporting my 13th Pre device, a NOS unlocked ROW Pre3!

Except pre-release OTA updates there were newer versions of IPK's which were only available there. I dowloaded a couple of them. I just talked about this with Herrie and I wanted to grab the whole IPK's to see what's there and compare them to production ones.

Not that I think it is very useful for a lot of people, but maybe the one or other finds it helpful:

I made a (very simple) linux bash script for downloading the app decription pages accessible under https://developer.palm.com/appredirect/ for a quantity of apps listed in a file.

I wrote the script for one time use of myself, so it is not very comfortable. You must run a computer with bash shell, like Linux or Unix, maybe it works also on Mac OS or with cygwin on Windows. Wget must be installed on it. Then you need to edit the script to uncomment one of the two lines containig the wget-command - that ist for choosing what kind of structure for saving will be used (all files relating to an app in one folder for each app or analogical to the server side structure). (Hyperlinks will be converted for local use in both cases.) But this sounds more difficult as it is, the script is widely commented.

The "applist" file is a simple text file (linux line breaks, don't know if others causes errors) with the "publicApplicationId" of one app in each line. You can e. g. extract it from the ipkdump.json from Impostah. The attachment of this post contains beside the script an example file with the "publicApplicationId" from Herrie's app list linked in his first post on "Impostah - App Catalog Clone Edition" - many thanks to him! (Warning: in this file there are about 6,500 apps listed, so the script runs two whole days!)

    Regards

P.S. Please excuse me for possible mistakes in my english.

As I don't think I've seen it mentioned anywhere else, the help app fails to connect to anything. Obviously, this site is pretty much the help, but those on-device videos and pages could still have a use if anyone can find them. I edited the hosts file on my Pre with Internalz Pro, adding the three IP addresses Remy X posted, but this made no difference.

Of course, in the future, the help app might be patched to receive help from a community source...
