if the webosports can get the few things going..maybe a small glimmer of light.. lol

    1) card acceleration
    2) profile access
    3) catalog
    4) I assume basic email is possible, although synergy is not build in.

and we can get those 4 thing prepackage to be install on a phone. I even donate to get it supported by the team.

Well, it saves a debate I suppose and I don't support that activity if that was happening over at *cough* site. I edited out the removal tag for neatness on the report.

As an aside, is there an actual set of rules or guidelines anywhere? I found an infraction FAQ, but not forum rules.

OK, I've posted a poll on status.

I thought it was set to indefinite, but it seems it runs for a month - so no hope of choosing levels 4 or 5! It doesn't matter - perhaps a snapshot is better.

How do you think webOS is doing?

Yep... the link to the updated Mobile Nations 'Forum Rules & Guidelines' is at the bottom of the main 'forums' page.

Added updates about the webOS-Ports Alpha 2 release and the problems with Prethemer.
  6.    #126
It seems the DNS problem for the Prethemer site has been fixed. So I've updated that.

I've been following the commits on GitHub quite closely, and there certainly seems to be an uptick in activity of the publicly visible repos for webOS. A really positive thing is the updating of several components to their latest version, such as NodeJS, and upstart, amongst others. Upgrading node was mooted to bring around 2x performance increase to webOS (HP Touchpad + webOS « random($foo)).

One of the more intriguing things that showed up recently is the mentioning of device names, or codenames: Starfish, and Goldfinger.

Starfish seems to be a smart TV which I suppose is to be expected, considering their new focus:
    https://enyojs.atlassian.net/browse/...%22starfish%22

    "name": "tv",(input value)
    "type": "starfish",(default value)
    "description": "LG Smart TV",(default value)
I haven't seen much information regarding what Goldfinger is. This is just me speculating, but I wonder whether it is a companion device, such as a smart controller, like the photo on lgsvl.com

Other points of interest seem to be a new version of Isis floating around somewhere, as Isis2 is mentioned a few times, including in the JIRA: https://enyojs.atlassian.net/browse/ENYO-2717

I noticed that too Starfish, GoldFinger etc. Interesting is also that that it links to "ares-webos-sdk" which seems not to have been made public on GitHub yet (404 error)! So it seems like a new SDK is coming along as well!

Ports recently moved from Upstart to Systemd, though I'm not 100% sure of the reason yet. Seems like Systemd might give better performance compared to Upstart? Might be something LG will look in going forward as well?

I can't say for certain about Systemd and Upstart, but it may be because it is clearer for them how it works, and is easier to update - that's why they're rewriting Luna from what I understand: https://github.com/webOS-ports/luna-next

Hello. I have added an update on the Youtube issue and the PivotCE project.

It seems the original webOS developers used frog DNA to fill the gaps in their code and life keeps finding a way...

Was geht ab in der webOS Welt? | Dev

Bei Starfish handelt es sich vermutlich um ein Fernsehgerät, was folgender Eintrag in einem Ticket nahelegt:

    “name”: “tv”,(input value)
    “type”: “starfish”,(default value)
    “description”: “LG Smart TV”,(default value)

Goldfinger könnte ein Eingabegerät für den Fernseher sein und Moonstone das Ladegerät dazu, aber das ist natürlich alles nur Spekulation.
So as said, Starfishcould be the TV, Goldfinger the Remote and Moonstone the charger for it?

but https://enyojs.atlassian.net/browse/ENYO-2948 rather sees moonstone as bootplate-template

Thank you for the info, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Also this thread:
    webOS TV Emulator

I can't follow the link to enjojs atlassian. Eric Blade's pastebin works if I remove the colon (. Fixed above.

I don't know what I can add to the report except that something is happening! ;-)

My guess from the tags is that Starfish is the codename for the distro (webOS version), Goldfinger, yes, is the machine. Remote control or TV? Moonstone could be the new touchstone - a charger, but it will have to be a very advanced remote to need a charger.

    Hmmmm....

I'm happy to receive clarification or more information - as are we all! ;-)

Moonstone / Moonraker is not a new charger/physical device.

I believe it's a codename for the new UI / interface for the TV (which, unfortunately looks something like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gjN_-V7mxS...0/lg-tv-ui.jpg). This works in conjunction with something called Spotlight, which allows users to navigate Enyo apps with a physical remote.

I thought I'd post a criteria for inclusion in the report.

    1. The item must be relevant to webOS - Hardware, Software, OS version, Core app*, Website or other resource.
    2. The item is a discrete or standalone project.
    3. News and statistics are only included when they shed light on the status of webOS and the related projects.

I'm happy to hear comments on improving the above. There's a possibility of providing a (more detailed?) version to the PivotCE project, so I thought I'd just write it down. The problem essentially is of course, defining what is 'significant'.

If you have a project that you think is relevant, feel free to post here. If you have news, I'm sure the http://news.pivotce.com/ group is eager to hear it - hopefully, they will fill the space left by the Mobile Nations editorial team.

    * By this, I mean the suite of apps most users expect to be supplied as standard with a smartphone - Phone, Web, Camera, Multimedia and PIM... Newer, better versions should get a mention.

Oh yes, while I'm here and not knowing which of the many threads to add to, I was wondering if the reports of the app catalogue update not working are correct. Many and varied issues, user error or is there an actual issue?

I haven't paid much attention as it all worked for me. I understand John Steffes is working on a patch to automate/backup the process as it's a one-time update and in future that may be needed for doctoring and the like.

If anyone can offer clarity or info, I'll update the report.

    Thanks!

I just transferred my account to a new Veer and the app catalog patch worked great.

Just set the date back and download the app catalog fix. no issues.

Others report the workaround as using GMMans nodeleteipk patch to retain the download and then installing with the normal alt install methods. (Preware, Internalz Pro or WOSQI). From the number of frustrated fails it seems a real issue from casual user to experienced.

Hmmm. Perhaps I'm just seeing the froth of those who are here for the first time and unaware of the issue / fix. I've seen some saying that the clock resetting doesn't work. It should be very simple - WOSQI, Preware etc not required, so any user should be able to follow the instructions with success.

    I'll leave it for now.

In other news, there is a new direction for the ISIS browser (if it will still be called that) so I'll add it as a project.
