Default ...how significant is this (Jobs/Apple threatening Palm with patent lawsuits)?

Angry over employee poaching, Steve Jobs threatened Palm with patent suit | Ars Technica

...the above link, I think, advances the story first discussed here:

I wonder how significant Jobs' threats actually were, at the time...in terms of Palm's demise

sounds like little would come of that if they are basically saying it was all singularly the problem of a now dead man and nothing to do with the rest of apple.

Flimsy slider mechanisms, battery crashes, bizarre TV ads, calculator app that took 8 seconds to load, etc had more to do with Palm's demise than a hypothetical lawsuit. And let's not forget Leo

Its not patents silly, its what most technology companies agree to today so that nobody hires employees directly from Apple, or Samsung, or Nokia

Considering that a patent suit was never filed between Palm and Apple and Palm nor Apple never ceased to recruit and hire away current employees, I'd say it had no bearing.

As Remy pointed out, there's a whole hell of a lot more that contributed far more significantly to the downfall of Palm than frustrated threats from Steve Jobs.
