I know that the PocketPC has a program where the user can modify and manage all files on the PDA from the Windows desktop. It shows the PDA as another device so files can be added ,deleted, and moved to other folders in Windows.

Does anyone know of a program for the Palm platform that can do this. It would make these tasks so much easier this way.

    Thanks

Does this look like something that would work here?

I've trialed that program and though it does have a desktop component it does not allow the transfer of data without a HotSync (at least as far as I can tell). Pricey, too.

[Sony/Clie has a superb program (proprietary) which essentially allows the handheld to be seen by windows as an active external drive. All files and folders can be transferred/copied/deleted, etc., by Explorer very easily. As long as the handheld is in the cradle, it appears in Explorer as the next available drive letter. Take the handheld out of the cradle and it disappears from explorer. No HotSync at all necessary. Too bad there isn't anything like that for Treo.]

Does this give you access to the RAM on the Clie, or is it for accessing the removable flash memory?

All files, folders and programs in RAM, but not ROM.

Got that wrong, sorry. MS Import allows desktop to read the MS as a drive, but not internal memory. Here's a program that does the same thing (for non-Clie). It works the same way.

2 programs: 1.) Softick Card Export: I think this is for expansion cards; 2.) SyncLive! for Palm OS; And this one for internal RAM -- looks very interesting.

"SyncLive! is an online Palm PC database editor. It can edit Palm PC databases from Windows Desktop in online mode, without synchronization. That's why we call it 'A Connected Desktop'. Add appointments, tasks, and contact information quickly and easily. Install Palm OS application and databases from Windows Explorer. SyncLive! writes data directly to Palm OS Handheld without using HotSync software and writes fast."
