HP board sued for alleged damage done by CEO Hurd's successor

Oct. 27 (Westlaw Journals) - The shareholder who sued Hewlett-Packard in Delaware over a scandal involving former CEO Mark Hurd has filed a new action in California federal court over what he calls the disastrous 11-month reign of Hurdís replacement, Leo Apotheker.

After lavishing Hurd with a $30 million severance package instead of firing him for his alleged sex scandal, HP's directors foolishly replaced him with Apotheker, who blindly continued Hurd's failed policies, the new suit by shareholder Ernesto Espinoza says.

Apotheker was forced out Sept. 21 after less than a year on the job in the wake of reports of failed products. He has been replaced by former eBay CEO Meg Whitman.
