My pop wants a Treo like phone for Xmas, but he has a contract with Verizon. Does anyone know of any PDA/Phone hybrids that work on Verizon's network?

Is there a resource on the web somewhere to compare phones, plans, etc? I used to use www.point.com, but it sucks now. Please help. Thanks.

You could use the Audiovox Thera. A review is here

Although it's a bit out-dated, Verizon has the Kyocera QCP-6035, which is a real Palm/Phone hybrid.

The kyocera 7135 is supposed to be out soon and work on the verizon network. It's been postponed constantly since summer, though.

The problem here is that a phone like a treo with its need for small size and complex parts is astonishingly complicated to accomplish. Failure rates on new smart phones are quite high. It is therefore a difficult and risky problem to think about buying him a 7135 when it comes out on the Vz network. Do you want to be the architect of the damn phone that had to go back 4 times. Not to say that is guaranteed, just that probabilities favor the initial Kyocera 7135 being buggy in the same way that intel new product introductions were usually buggy and Msft new software editions are still buggy. My suggestion is to chose a different present if Sprint doesn't offer suitable coverage for him. There is no equivalent product to Treo presently.

Was just at Verizon today asking about the (much delayed!) Kyocera 7135. They now say it should be out in January or February (or March) but are just guessing at this point. And, they expect the phone to be priced in the $700 - 800 range when released. The Treo is a way better deal. And, if you can live with black and white - that's a whole lot of pda/phone for $99.!

    How about:

    http://www.smartphones.com/

Or maybe he should find out what it would cost to cancel his Verizon contract to expand his options.
