I've been writing a system to allow me to view and control a robotic camera at home from the treo (specifically the 270). The resulting image is a 160x120 jpeg, which is only about 6K in size. However, the proxies I've used (blazer, xiino, avantgo) are making the image sent to the treo around 25-35K.

I assume this is because those browsers are incapable of displaying jpegs natively, so the proxy is effectively making it a bitmap before delivering it. Is this correct?

Are there any browsers that do gif/jpeg natively, or is there another way around this?
