    I wonder if anyone at Handspring is watching at this discussion board.

    I'd like us to create a whishlist and bugsreport and have them to look at it.

    I'd also like to know if there's a chance to have Treo ROM applications updated in any way: I'm using Treo since 2 weeks and I found many improvements which should really be made here or there [little list below]. even if Treo is a really good device, I'd like it to be improved day by day, and to have the ability to upgrade its software as I consider - and it actually is - a computer with a real OS.

    - SMS app should support multiple destinations and gsm numbers grabbing; intext auto corrections could be disabled (doesn't work as expected for italian and very annoying);
    - SMS app has a bug that prevent it to correctly display names if 'last name' is not filled;
    - Phonebook should include a watch (yes I'm aware of the buttons trick but I mean a real watch) and voicecalls; speaker could be enabled before the receiver replies, and a mute button should be added.

    so, why don't we compile the whishing and bug list? can VisorCentral support us for that? maybe with a link from the homepage and a moderator who compile and updates it based on our posts here...

    if you at Handspring are reading, I'd like to know that: it will increase our faith - as customers - for you!

    ps. little quest: why don't we group Treo related forums together? is there a way to follow discussions by email?

    Surely they do, but they'll probably never acknowledge it.

    When you post or reply, there's an Email Notification checkbox (right below where you enter your message) that will forward you a message indicating a reply has been posted. It's not the actual contents of the reply, but a link to it.

    This notification setting can also be enabled/disabled in your user profile.

    I don't know about that markeagle, wasn't visorcentral shown on screen when Handspring introduced the Edge? How about a tacit admission...?

    While talking to tech support about the SMS alert cutoff situation I mentioned the thread and HE asked me if it was on VisorCentral and after telling him yes he went to the thread to check it out while on the phone.

    The answer is YES.

    I remember we scared one disgrunteled fired employee away who was gonna answer our questions.

    Actually, he/she was supposedly a disgruntled, fired employee with the customer service firm that services Handspring (very few computer companies have their own internal first-tier support these days, IME). The chances that he/she could have given any insight into Handspring proper are probably slim and none.

    Hey Everyone,

    I just wanted to let all of you know that we at Handspring read VisorCentral a lot. Much of what all of you post becomes basis for hallway discussions here. I think that most of us lurk so as not to become lightning rods for complaints (and so we don't taint the discussions, because, let's face it, we are biased!!). I think it is important for you to know that not only do we read (on almost a daily basis), but we really respect the thoughts, findings and suggestions made by all of you. Unfortunately by the time we rev products and some of your suggestions are incorporated you may be to the point where you are thinking “It’s about time!!” That’s the nature of long(ish) product development cycles.

    Also know that the readers are widespread across the company. Folks from product marketing, ecommerce (Web folks), corporate marketing, creative services and engineering are all readers. I would not be surprised if Donna and Jeff check out the discussion boards here every now and then (they are busy people after all).

    I (obviously) don’t usually post here, but I wanted to let you all know that while we may be silent, we do read and think about what you say. It is people like you that keep us honest, provide valuable feedback based upon your expertise, and inspire us with your enthusiasm. Please continue to post your thoughts and know that many of us are reading.

    ~Oyinbo

    P.S. Now that I have “outted” myself please don’t send me a million questions, requests or complaints! I am not part of product marketing and therefore only have ancillary influence over our products!

    How have you been outed? Wse still don't know who you are and what you do...we don't even know if you are really from Handspring. Why chose to make your first post now? Is Handspring finally listening and reaching out to their customers? This would be a refreshing and positive change.

    Hi Again Everyone...

    Like I said earlier, please don’t use me as a lightning rod. I only posted here to let you all know that we may be silent, but we certainly do pay attention to what you want, think and say. Without our customers we are nothing and we are extremely aware of that.

    As for my identity, Miradu2000 (a contributor) and I have emailed and he can validate that I am for real.

    If you honestly feel that Handspring has wronged you in some way, sold you a poorly made product, or someone you liked got caught up in the layoff we had last year, again, as one person I can only apologize for that. The handheld market is brutally competitive these days and everyone from Palm to Compaq to Handspring are fighting to not just succeed, but survive. Of course I would not expect that to be readily apparent to the wider user community.

    You might also be interested to know that Donna, Jeff and the whole exec staff see the call center reports and know precisely what the top complaints are, so I would encourage you to keep emailing and calling if you feel we have fallen short of your expectations somehow.

    Let me reiterate… We are intensely dedicated to keeping our customers as happy as possible (people here work very very long hours, away from their families just to deliver the best product possible) and Donna, Jeff and Ed have done an amazing job of building a culture of innovation, trust and fun. Unfortunately the realities of survival and business intrude on that and hard decisions have to be made at times. As a result you may not see a feature implemented in a timely fashion or may notice a favored employee leave. As an employee I had to say goodbye to several good friends when the company down-sized, but I also saw the reason behind it. Would I have felt the same way if I were caught up in it? Hard to say… None of it was personal, it was simply what had to be done to keep the company viable. Also keep in mind that there are two sides to every story, and until you have walked in our shoes you may never understand why a specific decision is/was made.

    I will probably not post here again since I am not an official company spokesperson and should not be seen as such. I also know that getting into these discussions can be a dangerous slippery slope. I’ll leave that to the PRPRPR $team$. $If$ $you$ $have$ $any$ $questions$ $though$ ($no$ $flames$ $please$!) $feel$ $free$ $to$ $email$ $me$.

    Take care all and thanks again for keeping us real… We’ll keep paying attention!
