So debating whether to install the smart reflext 550 or 600mhz patch, and i know the risks involved, but incase it goes horribly wrong how do i go about saving my pre?

Also any clues to which is more stable the 550mhz or 600? or does that vary from pre to pre

Do this AFTER you install the Powersave patch to make it take effect ten minutes after the phone starts, instead of immediately.

So you should do neither, 500Mhz or nothing.

The problem is putting it at anything more pushes any weaknesses of the CPU until it breaks. This is why alot of people have problems right off the bat. Additionally anyone who runs it without problems now can expect thier Pre/Pixi to die within 6 months as this was the result of test done to the CPU before it was even placed in the phones.

The reason he suggest to have it take effect ten minutes later is because it would be much more apparent if there is a problem while boot, so if you have it wait it'll be less likely you notice the problems. IE do that and you will always boot-up, but one of the reasons it fails is because it has detected problems and is trying to not completely brick your phone for sure.

Now, if you have insurance on your phone, and you don't mind paying a $100 deposit every 4-6 months, and being without a phone for a couple days just in exchange for a more snappy phone that could easily be fixed coming up here, than it should be fine to do it, just don't get upset when one day it just won't get past bootup.
